Given or Hart

Hart should be given his chance to prove hes good enough, age dosent come into it as they say 'if your good enough your old enough'

The way I feel right now IF Given is fully fit it has to be Given as number 1. IF the club want to go for the title they cant take any risks in seeing IF Hart is good enough. Time will tell as they say which Hart has loads of time. Maybe a year or 2 down the line Hart will be the Number 1 at the moment he plays back up to Given. The thing is he wont be happy with it being number 2 so it wont surprise me IF Hart looks for a move around Xmas time if he hasnt got a look in at the team. Still think Hart will be a great keeper and we should do everything to keep him at the club as he will learn a lot from Given this year.

Just had a West Ham fan on my Facebook page giving me shit that Green was better than Hart on last nights performance I thought Hart did well last night . Hart for the No1 spot for me this term think for the future because if he's on the bench he'll want to go

Given should be our number one, no doubt in my mind, its just a case of trying to convince Hart to be patient for another year. I always say this, but if Given were English there wouldn't even be a debate on who Englands number one should be, he'd have got the shirt off Seaman and would still have it now.

Tricky. I'd go for Given as I trust him just the little bit more. Don't know what goes through Bobby's mind - is he going to play one of them in the League and the other one in cup games? Will be difficult to keep them both happy.

Last night was the first time I'd seen Joe in a full 90 mins match since he went on loan over a season ago. Sadly I thought his main fault hadn't improved - he doesn't command his area well enough for me seeing as he's a tall lad at 6-5 and there isn't a "presence" about him that the really top keepers have. Maybe that will come with time and experience - he's still a baby in goalkeeping terms - but I would question whether he should be our No.1 in what is a vital season for us.

That leaves us with a problem as Given is not fully fit yet and there must be questions about how the shoulder injury - the 2nd one he's had - will affect his confidence, even if it's only sub-consciously. Do we need to bring in a keeper??

against blackburn last year given kicked 20 times straight to opposition in an easy game no contest JOE HART

Hart had a shocker against Lisbon. Both goals I thought Given would have done better with (1st one mainly). Sometimes I think Given's poorness at dealing with crosses can overshadow what he does better than nearly every keeper.

Got to be joe, as he is our future, but whoever gets the shout will have to be 1st class as they will be pushing each other to stay in the side, so the real winner is Manchester City. (AKA Gods own).

Always a good one this.
Me ? I d start with Shay but use Hart as often as possible, certainly in the Europa s and CC games.Given has the experience but Hart is most definitely City s future.

Hart displayed some youthful mistakes last night, especially in his kicking. He played a short ball out of the box to a player with TWO attackers approaching and we ended up hoofing the ball out of play at the halfway line and the other was the one that hit our own player in the back and rebounded straight back to him for a volley!

Can't say as the backline has shown much confidence in either game, but with the chopping and changing at this part of the season, training sessions are probably more important than the games we have played to date.

I would be VERY surprised if there was not rotation of the two of them, with any drop in form being deadly for whomever starts in goal. There is no doubt that Hart is the future and that Given is in his twilight years. However, whether the future is already here and Given is done? I don't think it is quite so cut and dry.
