Given to go.

After this sitaution, Ive come to realise that you can never have two world class keepers in your team!

If he wants to go, let him and get the fulham keeper with crocky as a makeweight.

Offer schwertzer(sp) a player/coach role.

How can a goalkeeper be too old to play football? Van Der Sar will be 40 soon and he is still Scum's number 1. And how can people actually say that Given isn't near world class? He's been one of the top 5 goalkeepers in the best league in the world yet he's only competant? Don't take the fucking piss, Given should be our number 1 and at 34 years old, he has another good few years in him and he is one of the best keepers we've had in years, if not the best. Last season he saved us on several occasions. Brum away with a penalty save, Chelsea home when he saved Lampard's penalty when we were 2-1 up. If it wasn't for Hart being in the frame, our fans would be saying that we have one of the best keepers in the league at our disposal but now Hart is with us, Given suddenly isn't a top, top goalkeeper. Whatever.

IMO we havent got one yet. Hart has the potential to rise to that level and is already superior to Given. Given has reached his peak, is not world class and has a dodgy shoulder. I hope Hart is straight in at no 1.

-- Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:41 pm --

He isnt as good as Schmeichel senior and that was not years ago. Given is a very good keeper but Hart, at his young age, is already his equal and has the potential to be world class.

i'd go for hart. let him fall in love with us all over again. he could become an absolute city legend to be spoken of on a par with bell, lee and summerbee. before i get accused of getting carried away, imagine us being a dominant force for 15-20 years and hart being number 1 throughout most of it. we could let hart go this week and given's bad shoulder could flare up again at spuds on saturday.

Both very good keepers. When we brought Given in Hart wasn't ready, but I think he is now. I think there is not much between the two but if push comes to shove, as Hart is a lot younger I would go for him as I think he will get better & could play for us for years to come.

Just look at the two games at Old Trafford last season-in the 4-3 he failed to come fir two crosses in the 6 yard box that resulted in goals and bizarrely allowed a header to go out for a goal kick which ended up in the net as well. In the semi he didn't come two yards off his line (as usual) and Rooney got the winner-very bad command of his area, distribution, never off his line, can't catch either.

One of the top 5 keepers? 12 years at Newcastle and not one enquiry from a top 4 team until we came along doesn't match that comment.

Ooh, I don't know about this one. Given is a proven top class keeper, has a good 5 years left in him. Hart is a prospect, one for the future. They say that keepers hit their peak at 30. Why is this sh*t coming out a week before the season starts? First Ade and now Given. I hope that Tevez can keep his trap shut this week as well.
