Glastonbury 2023

It’s different judging a set when you’re watching on tv vs being there. Particularly with the legends, someone like Cat Stevens aside where it’s really all about the melody and the voice, seeing them live it’s more about the setlist and partly the band as most of the songs are being sung along to by the whole crowd anyway, it’s more just the whole experience of seeing the people that wrote these classic songs live.

Thought Elton’s band (and his piano playing) were brilliant and the setlist was too.

QOTSA were incredible too. Wouldn’t have done that scheduling myself tbh.

As much as I enjoyed Elton John the performance that really made me feel happy was seeing Cat Stevens. There's always been a serenity about his music and not just his voice which is great and easy listening but the sound of the instruments in harmony too and the lyrics specifically. I don't think the movie Harold and Maude would be half as popular without the soundtrack of Cat Stevens.
I caught him part way through and waited for morning has broken. Ended up enjoying it to the finish.

They're huge everywhere. Don't ask me why. I don't get it. But then I never got the Backstreet Boys either. I don't think it's aimed at me.

Blackpink are doing Hyde Park at the start of next month. That has an official capacity of 65,000 at around 100 quid a ticket.

But yeah, that was kinda my point. Just because someone is popular doesn't mean they're suited to Glastonbury. Justin Bieber is unlikely to headline it any time soon. Or Ariana Grande.
But would either act appeal across the ages, especially seeing the price of tickets etc. Pretty sure the Eavis' will be looking for a 'european' style act. Get your point, far beyond my understanding, thanks for your imput.

Dunno if I could stick Liam fuckin screeching/shouting those songs for the millionth time. Really don’t think it’s time for an oasis headline slot.
Be honest, do they really have the back catalogue to command it? I’d say they really have 2 albums to draw a “classic” set from.

That would be some set and can think of more.

What would be more awesome is if they introduced some of their solo stuff in the mix, these would go down well.

Liam - Once / Everything's Electric / Wall of Glass / For What It's Worth / Shockwave

Noel - Fort Knox / Lock All The Doors / AKA What A Life / Holy Mountain / Ballad Of the Might I

Loaded top half and then minor hits after which only the real fan will know. I count 18 i have no idea about. They have no appeal outside the UK though and most Sat/Sun headliners are world stars.

Sat, 6pm slot maybe.
