Glastonbury 2023

I think at the next Glastonbury festival there might be a certain Harry Styles as a headliner, seems to fill stadiums across the globe, if not him,Rick Astley, surely part of an entertainer/showman is engaging with the audience, both do it in spades.
Harry Styles headlining I would have no issie with, bet some would

Suprised a K-pop group hasn't made inroads to one of the stages

I think there's more to being a headliner than just being popular though. Otherwise we might as well predict BTS and BlackPink as the next headliners. In generally, you're supposed to have a certain level of critical acclaim, but there's obviously also a huge preference for rock and indie. The third day headliners is often a pop act, but usually a legend of the genre rather than a big current star. The likes of Ariana Grande or Bruno Mars are unlikely to headline any time soon, and they fill stadiums easily.
Now you have got me, I'm an old tosser, who are BTS and BlackPink?

I had heard of this years headliners previously, thought the first two were disappointing.

Fever Ray is typically crazy. Love this though.

If anyone used to like The Knife, that's where they started. Now a solo artist.

If you really want to feel like you're descending into hell, listen to Bjork's remix of Fever Ray's song This Country Makes it Hard to Fuck. Absolutely insane.

As much as I enjoyed Elton John the performance that really made me feel happy was seeing Cat Stevens. There's always been a serenity about his music and not just his voice which is great and easy listening but the sound of the instruments in harmony too and the lyrics specifically. I don't think the movie Harold and Maude would be half as popular without the soundtrack of Cat Stevens.

In the UK as well? lost touch with top 40 years ago. How often has an asian band played at Glastonbury. Hopefully there isn't a Spice Girls headline act, some of them can't sing, some can't dance and some can't do both

They're huge everywhere. Don't ask me why. I don't get it. But then I never got the Backstreet Boys either. I don't think it's aimed at me.

Blackpink are doing Hyde Park at the start of next month. That has an official capacity of 65,000 at around 100 quid a ticket.

But yeah, that was kinda my point. Just because someone is popular doesn't mean they're suited to Glastonbury. Justin Bieber is unlikely to headline it any time soon. Or Ariana Grande.

Elton was the perfect act to finish this year's Glastonbury.
We have had some good ones over the years.Running out of artists big enough to carry it off.
Oasis if they reform look like the best option.
