newsflash, acid rain was bollocks, ozone depletion is bollocks, Aids didn't wipe out the planet as predicted neither did ebola virus or swine flu . It's all bollocks. This is part of global warming.
If you look at an atlas and see the other countries on the same latitude as the UK they all have a much more severe winter than we traditionally have had.
the reason for this is the north atlantic drift or as others call it the gulf stream, however as the ice caps melt it cools the waters of the atlantic changing the flow of the north atlantic drift, meaning that our temperat winters will be no more and we have to get used to more severe weather in future.

That is not the reason for this cold weather, it is due to high pressure over the country that is stopping the winds from the Atlantic and allowing the cold air from the North East Baltic If what you said was true how do you explain previous cold snaps?

When was the last time the majority of the UK had three weeks of sub-zero temperatures?

It's obviously not about the temperature at one specific place right now. We're talking mean temperatures. The gulf stream isn't causing this either, not yet anyway.
James Lovelock actually said this, and I mean this discussion, was one of the climatologists biggest problems. Temperatures will go up and down. Spiking differences is the way the world works, but that doesn't mean the increase in mean temperature doesn't take place.

And acid rain DID take place, it just didn't cause the feared effect many scientists thought it would.

Ozone depletion did and does still take place. Where have you been. It's a reason we got political agreements on CFC's and more.

If we are on the verge of catastrophe due to carbon emmisions that are going irreversibley damage the ozone layer, why haven't we all got solar panels on the roofs of our houses and why isn't their a top quality public transport system in operation?

Answer - The government cannot collect VAT from self produced energy and if we all caught a bus or a train, just look at how much revenue again in VAT and petrol duty the government would lose.

I take it you don't think that the increased carbon emissions from us the last 70 years with the positive feedback in creates, is a problem for the self regulating balance of the earth?
