GMP performance

Fair enough I hope you are OK now. Doesn’t hide the fact that he was probably using it as an excuse to go missing though. You can bet that he has used it to enhance his pension by getting extra service years added for health reasons.
Cheap shot that. The man has served his time in an incredibly stressful and health affecting career.

He fully deserves a golden pension/retirement.

Fucking useless,i agree.
Unfortunately I can't say too much at the minute, but they are a vile organisation. My experience of BTP is not great either. Someone mentioned coppers having degrees, if that is the case then universities must be swapping them from gratis cards.

The degree is just something on paper i would guess,as Police college/training has always been a very intense study period.I agree though, some coppers do make that look something of a mockery.

It's horrendous. I remember Maggie talking about one case where (and I might get the exact details wrong) there was a 14 year old girl who had become pregnant to one of her abusers. You'd think that would be a pretty open and shut case for rape, but they charged him with a lesser crime because it would be easier to get a conviction (I don't know how much easier it can get), and he ended up with a pretty mediocre sentence as a result. Apparently it's pretty common in these cases to not go for a rape conviction because it's easier to get them on some other charges, and that's when you end up with those outrage-inducing sentences of a few years for someone who basically ran a child trafficking ring.

That's a CPS issue its not up to the police to decide what charges are brought

The complaint the ex-detective made has nothing to do with the CPS.
She had been involved in several cases of child sex exploitation which were not deemed serious enough to even investigate properly, never mind pass on to the CPS, due to both MCC Social Care and GMP not following nationally agreed protocols when dealing with vulnerable children.

I wasn't referring to her complaint.
