goal diff

I don't know why people are getting on the OP's back. Spurs were absolutely SHITE yesterday and if we wanted to we could have matched their 9 goals at WHL against Wigan two years ago. Goal difference could definately be a factor at the end of the season but we eased off once we got to 4-0. No team should ever ease off. We should have show them no mercy and fucking truly embarrassed them. And this isn't a reaction to the United score, I said "why the fuck are we easing off?!" as soon as we started to during our game, before United even kicked off.

Of course, I'm delighted with the win and performances all over the pitch from the players but we should never, ever, ease off in games. Ultimate fucking punishment should be dished out at all costs to win the league. Chelsea scored an 8, a few 7's and a number of 6's when they won the league the other season. We should never hold back. We should be ruthless mother fuckers whenever we can be.

No performance is ever perfect. Never!

Pep Guardiola makes a point of having a word with his players on the pitch about what they've done wrong in the game, even after cup final wins. The best isn't good enough, you have to be better than your best. If you're not there is room for improvement. It's tough at the top, no holding hands and skipping around after a great win. Ask the South Africa rugby union team. They weren't aloud to celebrate their Tri-Nations win, nor their World Cup win in 2008. They were only aloud to celebrate after they won the test series against Britain+Ireland a year later. They won the lot in the end. But there's no room for wankig off over little things. Fucking ultimate focus and destruction will only do.

We're no longer aiming for promotion, top half, top six, top four, top three... we're aiming for NUMBER ONE!

Daft not too enjoy one of the best performances in years. No pleasing some people.
Too many picking on this guy i'd say nowhere doe's he say he didn't enjoy the performance just why we didn't press a spurs side that had clearly gone at the game, we've had nothing but shit off them since the cup final in 81 how many quarter finals have they knocked us out of it would have been nice to run up a cricket score there i hate the bastards. That said i was more than happy with the drubbing we handed them. But the poor guy only voiced an opinion you'd think he'd shot Dzeko at the final whistle

When we did this we conceded a goal because they saw a chink in the armor because we showed them that we were being soft.

so why does the most successful manager the premier league has had insist his players play the full 90 mins at full tilt despite having a paper thin squad ?

3-1 up against Everton at Goodison going into added on time. Ended up 3-3 and if wasn't for a bent ref they would have lost.

It's why he's been in his job for 25 years and won all that he's won. And it's exactly why all other managers in the world end up getting the sack! Never ever show any signs of weakness or mercy, ever! The game finishes when the whistle is blown, not when you get enough breathing space between you and your opposition!

try watching a few English Premier league games because a side that doesn't often shut up shop has won it quite a few times.

We could bring up dozens games over the years where teams have come back on them. It doesn't dispell the point!

Apparently he "wasn't entertained" or "he's a rag." Stop being so childish. Even if you don't agree with him it doesn't mean he can't have an opinion, if your mate said that in the pub you wouldn't overreact like on this forum.

Some of you seem to think that somebody saying an idea that would nothing but improve our goal difference is slagging him off!!

If Man U played before we did I'm sure others watching the game would have been thinking "just a few more while they are defenseless! They're crumbling so don't take your foot off!"

That's why Fergie didn't tell the team to slow down, he wanted GOALS and goals are what WIN LEAGUES, but some on here think that if somebody is wanting more goals to increase the chances of winning the league is a rag.

If we do lose out to the title to those c*nts by 1 goal then we might all realise that... WE SHOULD'VE GOT 2 MORE GOALS WHEN IT WAS HANDED ON A PLATE.

Now some pathetic looser is going to quote this and put "rag" or a sinking boat because they think differently and want to increase the chances of winning the league.

Some people on here are great and will speak to people as if they were mates, some are embarrassing and think we're currently the greatest team in the world and anyone who thinks the team could improve is having a go at city and/or is a rag.

I wonder how long it is until some posters on here become like the posters on RAWK or Ragcafe.

Oh and I know "it's the 3rd game" and I was "entertained" but at the end of the season it all counts and we're only trying to think of ways to IMPROVE!

You must be either out of your mind or completely drunk right now.

Are you thick! we lost out to second on GD last season, the season earlier it was 1 point between man u and chelsea. It get's very tight up there!

Arsenal 4-0 up at Newcastle. Didn't take the sting out at 4-1 and kept attacking....

Or they went down to ten men and gave two stupid penalties away and had the worst two central defenders playing for them out of all top 13 teams! I'm not talking about a team that were failures back in fourth place, I'm talking about being NUMBER ONE!

Plus we eased off yesterday at 4-0 and conceded a goal!

Scoring goals isn't just about attacking neither. If you're being ruthless cunts up front you have to be even more ruthless at the back!

The very best do not ease up! Michael Jordan would never ever ease up for the Bulls. He'd go out to inflict the most amount of damage and embarrassment possible. If he scored 60 points on his own when the oppsosition only scored 58 put together, then sobeit. Boxers don't go into the ring to tickle and hug their opponenets even if it's nailed on they'll win, they go in there and destroy them. Warrington Wolves have scored a record number of points this season, they almost never let up - when they did the other week coach Tony Smith said 'yeah we scored 66 but we conceded a try at the end and that's not good enough!'. And he's right, it's not!

Mancini himself said it wasn't good enogh that we conceded a goal yesterday. But why did we concede it? Because as soon as we got 4-0 up we took our foot off the gas and showed them a sign of weakness. Any weakness can be exploited and a few players on their team exploited the fact we'd taken our foot off the gas (Defoe imparticularly) and went all out to do something in the game, even just get a goal back. They won a corner and scored a goal.

If we'd continued playing how we had for 65minutes we could have avoided conceding that goal.

By the way I'm not talkig as a fan here. As a fan I'm happy - no I'm way past happy, I'm extatic - with the start to our season and particularly our performance yesterday. But as I've said, there's no such thing as perfect and I'm pointing out how we can be even better because that's what Mancini will be doing with them all!

Nope as mancini said it was our poor defending at set pieces, nothing to do with taking feet of peddles.

We defended poorly at ONE set piece yesterday. He was talking about the season as a whole. And the corner came directly from Defoe stepping up as we eased off!

You aren't grasping what's being said. I'm delighted with it. No part of anything I've said is slagging off any part of MCFC. But just pointing out what and where we can be even better, just like Mancini and his management team will be. There's no such thing as perfection!

i'm fifty, and I said before the start, Mancini would start fannying around with the team after an hour if we were winning, and I was right.

However, overall very happy, the best performance I have ever seen, but we must go for the throat.

I will defend your opinion, nothing wrong with it, paying punters are entitled to expect a game to last 90 minutes.

Of course the goal was a bit of a farce, no arguments about that.

And I'd agree that we eased up very marginally before they scored. More accurately, Micah came on and suddenly we gave the ball away a lot down that side. Bale was encouraged and we ended up giving space for Defoe to shoot.

After that we put on another defender. Because Micah wasn't coping down the right, we had to put someone else there to help him out. That's not easing up. That's solving a problem. I'd be happy to call it shutting up shop, because that's what the intent was. Give them no way back into the game. Inter failed to do pay attention to Bale in the last stages of their game at the San Siro last year and we all know what happened.

After a few minutes order was restored and the cry clearly came from the bench, keep the ball.

What happened in the next ten minutes was hardly 'easing up'.

Yes, this meant the midfield dropped deep. But there is a specific attacking reason for that. We were trying to draw the midfield and forwards on to us, so that the defenders follow. Then we look to play the long through ball over the top into the space behind. You'll see a lot of that points this year.

It was death on a fucking stick for Redknapp and his team. They were demoralised and exhausted, and had to endure ten minutes in front of their own fans without even being able to go through the motions of closing us down enthusiastically. And they still couldn't stop us from creating chances.

Silva probably should have scored. Edin got a shot away in the six yard area. Aguero was narrowly adjudged offside when clean through (perfect example of the intended tactic). And then we did score the fifth. Three very clear chances and one goal in ten minutes is a good return at any period of any game.
