Honestly, whoever we get/keep is on a hiding to nothing unless we can remember how to defend....it's been absolutely terrible this season.
Khusanov a bright spark, hopefully Pep builds on him in the summer. Proper (able to actually defend) fullback on each side would be absolutely lovely.
I think Gvardiol is good, Diss is good but slow, Khussvov is good and so is Reis. Akanji is manageable and Ake and Stones are just unreliable unfortunately.
Our main defensive weakness is at RB. We need to fix it with someone who can defend and is athletic. If we do that, we should be vastly improved defensively.
Team errors, rather than poor defending was our bigger weakness.
Poor decisions leading to goals or big chances were our downfall: Kyle, Nunes, Akanji, Gvardiol, Dias, Stones, Ortega, Ederson, Foden, Savio Kev etc.
I think Ake, Reis and O'Reilly might have been the only ones to not give up a big chance from a poor play, and that might just be down to not playing enough minutes.
So priority number #1 should be cutting down individual errors drastically..If we do that alone, our defense would concede about 40% fewer chances.
Im not too worried about our overall defending. I even liked what i saw from Nunes, effort wise.
