Goalkeeper situation summer 25

We won't be signing another potential #1 keeper, if Eddie leaves then the job is Trafford's.

We will need somebody at Ortega's level, just off top level but good enough to fill in for 4-5 games and cup runs.

Costa will not come, unless guaranteed #1 spot imo

Sorry but I'm struggling to understand your point here? Bettinelli is the obvious 3rd choice, which is presumably what you're saying and we can agree on.

If we lose Ortega AND Eddie then you think Fraser Forster would be a good 1st choice goalie, despite being hardly renown for his passing skills for this coming season, keeping Trafford on the bench (except for cup games) from where he can learn how NOT to play the Pep way? Also, these 3 "problems" we apparently have, is "commanding the box" an issue? How is being being English or not an issue either way? You do know we have goalkeeping coaches to pass on experience?

Just a name, we have effectively offset the 2nd choice till next year, but the point is, that City are the most attractive club, to every English keeper not on the national list. Just another way to up the English contingent without dropping standards.

Don’t think I would want any of the England keepers over Ortega other than Trafford

So you fail to understand again, no problem, the point was about the second choice keeper, my choice would have been to keep Trafford at Burnley till next season, where he would come to City a far more experienced keeper and let Ederson see out his contract.
I take your point about the Pep way, but how long is Pep going to stay, plus there is no one in the world, that can play the Pep way, as well as Ederson

The problem of small goalkeepers, is when they slow down, but it is not about seeing some one better, it is about seeing someone that will be better, not easy with all the foreign keepers in the league.

Why do you want a not very good second choice goalie ? Or are you saying first choice Fraser foster ? Which is even worse one because he isn’t as good as Trafford 2 because he isnt very good. Because he is English ? Also doesn’t look like Eddie is leaving

No what i am saying we get the best English goal keeper we can get, for second choice irrespective of Trafford and Ederson fighting it out next season, needless to say this has been put off now till next season, but we are a hugely attractive club to English keepers, so wasting a foreign spot on second or third choice keeper, means we lose a far better foreign outfield player.

Goalkeeper is an equally important position. And a far less flexible one.

True and we bought a keeper from a team that had just got relegated from the German top tier, are you really going to tell me that during this time an English player has not surpassed him.

Has any premier league team got a better number 2 keeper ?,possibly liverpool did but he wasn't English either.

Our 2nd choice was not bought because he was good, perhaps you missed all the clubs that have come in for him, they are all mid to bottom German teams, who baulked at the £5 million price tag.
