Going after CFG?

The "campaign" is from the competition - many clubs who even had the courtesy to identify themselves in the CAS letter. The briefing referencing (incorrect) aspects of related party and similar matters is clearly, almost word for word, from those "sources". This is why the story is so similar in numerous media outlets.

Unfortunately, the journalists don't have the necessary understanding of the subject matter to either ask the right questions to their sources or get the articles technically correct. It isn't that complicated but it is technical. The most egregious misunderstanding was that the PL never has had related party rules. This is nonsense - the rules have always been there. It's just unfortunate for football that the international accounting standard measure used doesn't do the trick for our competition. So that competition are desperate to prevent another team competing for Europe. Remember the difference is at least £75m (probably more) to the bottom line (profit) of a club between qualifying for the CL and not. That £75m of profit is easily worth £1bn of value (probably more) if it can be "guaranteed" and recurring. So Liverpool, United, Spurs, Arsenal etc are going to fight bloody hard to make it hard for someone to make it harder for them. Its natural, its even fair enough. But the journalists really shouldn't allow themselves to be used.
What seems clear is that whoever is briefing against us this time (my money is on Levy or someone from LFC) is also being briefed by someone high-up in the PL. It looks like collusion between individuals who are not acting in the interests of all football clubs. Without owner investment the whole football structure is unsustainable. Since when did investment become a dirty word. The Glazers and FSG invest virtually nothing in this country. They just take money out.

Just reading a copy of "Wetherspoonnews" -a special edition, where they have laid into the press for printing misinformation about their business. Maybe City should take a leaf from their book?

I picked up a copy of that some weeks ago. I was impressed with how thorough it was and even covered some very small publications. Contrary to what many on here are saying, Wetherspoons got apologies and retractions from several media outlets.
I have experience of issues/reputation management and I never found the press to be aggressive as a result, rather they were just more circumspect. Maybe football is its own special case.

Weatherspoons could perhaps be classed as the rags. They have a huge customer base, perhaps the media realise that if they upset Tim he will go all out on them.

Difference is the mainstream media aren't ideologically wedded to the rivals of Wetherspoon's in the same way the Rags and Dippers who write for them are with their anti-City bile. Any riposte by us will be taken as an attack on them personally and against their ideology so we get even more shit flung at us.

That is a good example of what might happen when the Club must always follow the holistic approach. At least in some situations, the Club should be ruthless and aggressive. They should publish a reply in the same newspaper that published the original article; NOT to discuss such an important subject in a pregame press conference as some on here were suggesting. If the newspaper refused, they should publish the reply in more than one newspaper, as paid advertisement, in England and other countries that are part of CFG. If the Club chose to occasionally ignore the holistic approach, most of this crap would eventually vanish.

You need to investigate the ownership and the motivation of British print .
The crap that is printed will not change any time soon. Give them the moral high ground and it will get worse. This is what the club believe anyway.

All these media attacks on the club demonstrate how much our success is hurting the old established clubs and the pressure they assert on to these media whores to besmirch the club and everything involved with it.

Whilst I personally take comfort in this, I do wish the club would take action and shut these poisonous cunts up instead of allowing them to peddle their vitriol and jealousy on behalf of the Yank owned clubs, as I believe them to be behind most of the worst shit thrown at us.
The interesting thing with that though C.B.B. is that most people can actually see right through it.

There's an old adage: "if you give someone enough rope, they'll end up hanging themselves with it"

There's a subtle narrative starting to emerge from within the broadcasting media and the more cultured divisions of the written press that have finally conceded that C.F.G. are doing it the "right way".

The most blinkered, red bias journalist/fan can see that the success Manchester City FC is enjoying on the pitch is in direct correlation with the business model that was put in place thirteen years ago.

Compare that to the business model of our questionable neighbours and it's easy to see why they invest so much of their time and energy on their PR and why they are so desperate to direct the narrative.

It’s not important It’s just the media continuing to shit stir
As I said previously it will be forgotten about in days reacting to it will highlight it and push it well beyond its sell buy date
We concentrate on football

We have a new Premier League acronym FCAG - Financial Controls Advisory Group

Clubs represented:

City - Simon Cliff general counsel
United - Patrick Stewart general counsel
Arsenal - Stuart Wisely CFO
Villa - Christian Purslow CEO
Everton - Grant Ingles FD
Burnley - Alan Pace Chairman
Chelsea - Bruce Buck Chairman
Newcastle - Amanda Staveley Director

No Liverpool or Spuds.

At least we are close to the enemy. And Cliff through his legal experience with us is probably the most clued up of them all about the merits or otherwise of the legal issues.

Yeah we all getting pissed seems if city are they waiting till the final stitch up in ffp mark 3 rules come out!

Also said years ago that they will go after CFG because it’s a very good business plan that clubs like the scum scousers Arsenal are not going to do because of the cost and them yanks don’t like spending their own money!

They never go after debt they never go after clubs who have officer and hide there details in the Cayman Islands they don’t either go after clubs who get around not paying tax in this country while our club Do!

Nice for these history scumbag clubs to have 98% of the media on their side with never ending articles keeping the negative/Narrative mostly lies about our club going!

Shameful.
Still can’t get any comments about Standard Chartered or Western Union past the DM censors even on unmoderated forums. Speaks volumes about their agenda.

It’s as clear as day and has been for a long time, there is an ongoing agenda against the owners and I believe it’s racist. The media, the American owners of other clubs, EUFA and FIFA don’t want them to have success. The best thing the owners can do is keep quiet and let the team on the pitch and community around East Manchester do the talking.
Fair enough in the owners interests but how about fighting back for the fans, the ones that actually have to live with it?

Ziegler's partner in crime Rob Harris (weekly podcast with Ziegler and Panja) is more balanced in his article which is more to do with the editorial style of his employer than his own personal views. Surprised he didn't mention the shittiest press conference question ever to Pep after the 2019 Cup Final. ****.

He does mention that the financial controls advisory group also features Simon Cliff, the general counsel at City Football Group and DS leaks fame. Good to hear that at least our voice is being heard albeit probs doesn't make a jot of difference.

It would be interesting to see if that includes journalists & their organisations being paid by certain clubs.
