The winner might well end up under par looking at the scores so far. Unless the course falls off the cliff again like yesterday.
What I don't understand is how Shinnecock has got the tournament. Wasn't there a similar shitstorm in 2004 when the tournament was last (?) held there?
But how come we don't get this same controversy at the US Open every year (presumably the USGA is responsible for setting up the course every year)? I can understand them not wanting a course that a sunday morning hacker can shoot -5 on, but when you get the amount of players and pundits that there is this year complaining about the course, then something is badly wrong.It’s not the course it’s how the usga demands it’s set up.
