Happy Gilmour 2. I thought it was great. Plenty of homages, is that a word, to the original. Scottie played a funny role. Rory can't act. That's enough of the spoilers. As golfers I think you will enjoy it despite the mixed reviews.

I'm guessing there's a few Bmers shifting uneasily in their seats watching that. "It'll be back on the tee in a minute".

Funny thing is club golfers moan that the greens are to slow. Then when you speed them up they moan the greens are to fast.
True story we got the greens nice and slick when I worked at Chestfield gc. The 7th green was 3 tier highs level at the front. If golfers pitch up short when the pin eas on the lowest level most would put of the green down the bank into the semi rough.
I was ordered to grow the collar up to stop the balls rolling off and water the greens more. The collar was higher then the fairway hight lol.
I ignored the 'order' to irrigate as I was t prepared to ruin the green by overwatering. The amount of damage that would do could take years to put right even if it could.
Bizarre that the club were prepared to ruin the greens because the standard of members was shit. The real golfers (low handicappers) love the speed, but most club golfers are just hackers

An issue with fast greens is where the pin is positioned. Our previous greenkeeper who jumped before he was pushed loved to position them on the crest of a slope or hanging off the edge and at times were unplayable. Ours are approximately 10 on the stimp and playable for everyone, on the club championship day they get double rolled to make it more of a challenge.

Anyone watching the play off? Including in regulation they are now playing the 18th for the fourth successive time. Why not use different holes for the play off? A bit boring keep using the same one?

A 20 handicapper won the 9 holes stableford yesterday with 26 points. A single figure has zero chance these days with so many people gaming the system.
Minimum handicap should be 18.
A shot a hole seems fair to me, play to achieve that standard.
None of this 28 bollocks.
And that's an opinion from someone who never got below 14, because to play to 14 consistently is bloody difficult and hard work.
Sometimes I'd shoot +12, but mostly I'd shoot + 16 or above.
I once shot a 78, but that was a complete one off. Chipped in twice, 2 or 3 20 foot puts etc, total luck.
The handicap system needs a bit of a looking at.

Fast greens are not the issue. Most of the members think they pure every shot which they dont mishit about 8 of 10.They never take enough club. They also never seem to have heard of course managment.Get the ball in play and plot around.
know how far you hit each club with no wind.I find since getting custom fitted and knowing how far each club goes takes all stupid shots away ie going for par 5s that you would have to hit the greatest 3 wood of the deck u have ever hit.
Since playing to distances my handicap has stabilised between 12 and 14.Still have horrendous holes but nowhere as many as previously.
The greenkeepers do a fantastic job and are qualified to know what they are doing. Most members play once a week with the wrong clubs no warm up.Where i play the main gripe are greens to fast.Pin positions our greenkeepers use the whole green one member thinks they should be either on the front middle or back and always in the centre.,bunkers too much sand bunkers should have sand. For me the commitees should be replaced by the greenkeeping team.

The new handicap system overall is a good thing for the game because it allows the casual golfer who may only play a few times a year to get and maintain a handicap without being a member of a club.
On the flip side it's a cheats charter. Handicap manipulation has always gone on but this new system makes it so easy, especially being able to count casual rounds.
My suggestion would be to reduce the number of qualifying rounds from 8 to 3 out of 20.

Those of you who are members of clubs . What is the max handicap allow for your majors ? Ours is 26
