Someone used that exact word when discussing him with me on the coach up to Sunderland on Boxing Day.

I'm not sure about anyone on here but some of the vitriolic comments I've read on this forum about him over the past couple of years equate to the same thing IMO.

Or in this case we just don't think Balotelli was that good, or at least not as good as the goodbyes/teenaged tears suggest he was for us. Some do, some don't. Some may even infact actually hate him, though no one has said they do so far. The closest someone has come, ironically and bizarrely, is the weirdo Mancio who has gone from being his biggest fan on here to hoping he breaks 'all his ligaments'. Odd.

The full Balotelli thread contained numerous examples, yes. But it needn't apply only to the word hate. The best way of telling was when he left. Those who said they weren't sorry he was leaving because they didn't rate him, but wished him well anyway, those people are genuine critics. The people who posted nothing but bitter snidey comments, and said shit like good riddance, those are the haters.

You're quite bizarrely getting anger at a particular incident confused with hating a particular person. I 'hated' it when Lomas let the ball go out for a throw-in v Liverpool instead of crossing the fucking ball into the box, considering what was at stake. I didn't hate Lomas though, I was merely angry at the incident. Many-a-fan 'hated' things that Edghill did and he became the target of their anger each and every game, though if you asked them post-match i'm sure they will tell you that they didn't hate the man himself in the way you believe the word is meant.

It's one thing making a heat of the moment comment when a player misses a chance or makes a mistake (some of it is over the top and I don't necessarily agree with it but I can forgive it to an extent as it's an emotional sport for us fans) but quite another to spew endless vitriol day after day about a player and not offer any encouragement or constructive criticism whatsoever.
