Looking back years from now, seeing the rise of Manchester City, the highlight reels will show him involved in all the pivotal moments. Nobody, with perhaps the exception of Yaya, has symbolised the transcendence of us over our Trafford rivals better than Mario. He'll be the iconic imagery that will be associated with it.
From the wink at Ferdinand, to the shot that rebounded into Yaya's path, to the first two and the Evans sending off in the 6-1, to the last gasp winner against QPR. Mario was there for those magical iconic moments which might never be bettered. These last two years, have been unbelievable, they might never even be topped. Winning the FA Cup, beating the rags on the way, and grabbing the title after their season had already finished, and Mario was there, right in the heart of those key moments.
Those same old key moments that keep getting trotted out?
Your post will have some of the Mario fans crying now Skash.
They should have all City fans happy. Great memories for the club. I suspect some will be too bitter to think of it that way though.
