Goodbye Martin.

I felt sorry for Petrov on Sunday if the manager keeps playing him out of position he is bound to struggle. He could have really took advantage of the space he was getting second half if he'd been on the left.Instead he was cutting back all the time on the right. His two main strengths as everybody knows are his pace and great left foot it's like you lose both those strengths with him on the right.Yes he is the biggest tart Ive seen but if he wasn't we would have never got him in the first place because ability wise he'd have been at a top club if he put more effort in.

You get used to it....it's always the same idiots on here that think anyone who pulls on a blue shirt is beyond any type of criticism.

Not purely no....but yeah if they pull on a blue shirt to play for our club then we are going to debate them, and that includes negative points. If you are somehow offended by that then that's your problem, but I'm not going to sugar coat my opinions just because you think the sun shines out their arse.

Excellent squad player. Some fans are getting ahead of themselves far too early.

He will prob finish the season with 25-30 starts in all comps and about 8-10 goals and similar amount of assists.

But he doesn't win any 50/50's (Facepalm)

Martin Petrov is a quality footballer

If he was playing on his preferred position on the left we wouldn't be debating this because he would be scoring/setting up goals for fun - he is the best crosser of the ball/corner taker at the club. When Bridge returns he might get more starts as it would be suicide to play petrov and the snail (garrido) on the left.
I love petrov and would be really pissed off if he goes in the summer - cos he will head to spurs and be a superstar for them!

Agree with this. Play him on the left - its not rocket science! Oh the joy of having good players playing for one position - what teams aiming for the Champions League should be about, isn't it?

We've established that he doesn't watch. Just look at the Johnson remark? He thinks he's never played in the premiership. The irony of stating that people don't watch the game with their eyes open and he's just been caught hook, line and sinker!

Now you're right, Johnson is world class and better than Petrov and Robinho and Bellamy and Tevez combined.

Cock

No-one even suggested that. Don't get involved in these threads if the comments upset you...which they clearly do as you always resort to made up statements or insults when others present a rational argument. Whether they are right or wrong it's their opinion and they are entitled to it.

"Johnson.....Who has never played in the Premiership ever" hahaha, and we're the ones accused of knowing nothing about football ?? Jog on mate.

Petrov is not a bad player. His attitude was sulky because hughes was benching him for Robinho despite Robi's glaring lack of effort or form. That being said he lacks the pace he once had and he doesn't enjoy contact due to the knee injury he suffered about a year ago. Some posters have said his road form is lowsy, I would sincerly question that comment as he has shown on a number of occasions the ability to produce on the road even when he is getting only spot substitute opportunities to play. I am so happy we signed Adam Johnson though because (1) he is young, (2) he has ability, (3) he is another player to fill the nationalty quota (4)!!!!! from what I can tell he can use BOTH feet. Petrov's biggest problem I have seen is that he has only one foot, his left. Petrov's left is absolutley deadly both passing and shooting, but I have seen him bungle easy opportunities and shift the ball to his good side or try to outside of the foot one just to avoid using his right foot. This is not acceptable for a starting 11 Top 4 team quality player or for City's needs. He has a role as a left winger and a squad player, he is way to limited by the aforementioned one-footedness to be utilised as an attacking midfielder out of possition. I hope he stays with the team because left sided players are hard to come by especially with his knack for finding players heads with crosses but Adam Johnson is hopefully going to be a more dynamic and versitile player in the next few years. With that in mind I think keeping both of them is important to the squad and I think Petrov's attitude will be more stable under Mancini as Mancini seems to reward merit and effort rather than starpower which is all Petrov every really asked for. I think Petrov had problem being a squad player behind Robinho.

The problem is that he doesn't want to be a squad player. He made this quite clear when Hughes was here. Unless Mancini see's him as a regular starter next season then I seriously doubt he will be here...hence the thread title 'Goodbye Martin'.

I don't want anyone playing for us who is happy to be a squad player.

Pretty much everyone is a squad player now. Who isnt? Given, and thats it in my book. Then the next rung off "nearly every gamers" like Tevez, Toure and Ade but then everyone else is in the "squad player" bracket. Especially if we get Champs League football and are having good runs in all the cups. 25-30 starts a season in a Champions League team is good going.

True, except that the others just get on with it. He has a good sulk and moan about it.
