Just a bit off topic but can anyone confirm if we finish 4th and utd won the champions league would they take our spot?had rag at work today saying they would?

Theoretically yes, 4th go down into the Europa League.

QF:
Barcelona, Bayern, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Dortmund/Zenit, Rags/Olympiacos

So if they pull it off who would you say is the easiest option over 2 legs? Dortmund (finalist 2 seasons ago) as I can't see Zenit turning round a 2-4 away, Atletico or PSG?

Is your mate having a giraffe?

SF: If, by some miracle they progress then they are likely to meet Barcelona, Real or Bayern in the Semis. They might get lucky and draw Chelsea.

Final: Say they get Chelsea and Maureen can't stop laughing after he hears that the rags are going to wallop them. They manage to progress. Okay it's one game. Errm, take your pick who they play from whoever is left in.
Chelsea have a chance because Maureen gets under people's skin and gets his players to do the same.

There are undoubtedly trends, this gives us a chance to estimate which teams will probably finish in the top 6 etc., but humans don't have consistent attributes. The anomalies are things like key injuries, key suspensions, fatigue, moments of madness, bad tactics and the biggest one of all - good old lady luck. If trends were consistent, bookies would only change odds a few times for each team, each season. They don't, the odds constantly change throughout the season as these anomalies come into play.

Sounds to me like you've got a degree in maths or perhaps business, but a D minus in common sense.

Steady on cowboy, you can't even master the English language and might I remind you it was you who came out with this pearl of wisdom, "They will probably tell you that we will be favourites to win each individual game between now and the end of the season, but that doesn't mean its going to happen."

Well no shit, Sherlock.

The trend as at Xmas had us scoring about a thousand goals by the end of the season. For what ever reason, this trend ended and we have struggled in many games to score one let alone 2 or more.

I am not saying that Liverpool won't win the title, but I seriously doubt it. I cannot see them scoring freely in all their remaining games. Many reasons why they could slip up and the only trend worth noting is that great form does come to an end at some point. Hopefully it's us that end it.

I actually think this idiot is one the less bitter and deluded of the arse fans. Some of the other shit that comes out of their mouth regarding us is even worse

For instance when they say kocieleny is better than kompany

How can people still not be taking Liverpool seriously for the title?!
Surely they're proving their method of football is very effective, if they pick up at least 3 points against us and Chelsea at their place, will people start taking them seriously?

as soon as I hear the accent I piss my sides.

am I bad?

It's a forum mate, if you run one of your probability graphs you'll probably find that a large majority of people don't speak the queens English on here.

Still laughing at your acknowledgment that stats based on previous performances tell a story about possible future outcomes...

No shit, Sherlock :)

I know Blues who still aren't taking Liverpool seriously for the title even though they have an easier run-in than us and they have a home game against us. .

I'm not taking Liverpool seriously for the title at all. In fact I've bet money they won't even be within 6 points of the top two after 38 games.
Honestly, Damo?

I'm probably more worried about them than i am Chelsea. They're the Prem top scorers and look like they're going to score about 3 every game with the intensity they play with. They're catching our goal difference every week. They have some extremely easy games (of course none are easy and it doesn't always work out as you'd think, but still...) and i don't see where they're going to lose next.

[watch them lose their next game, haha! - hey, hopefully i've put them mockers on them!]

The thing is those so called easy games are anything but that at the tail end of the season when relegation candidates are getting desperate. The only really easy games are against the comfortable mid-table teams like when they play Newcastle and West Ham.
