tomorrow's Kicker: Man City's Begiristain met with Mario Götze's agent last month with a view to activating a €40m release clause.

like Silva, pretty but how many chances did he miss in those 2 games? 4,000?

I doubt his clause would be that low? Goetze is a fucking gem for Dortmund.

Sorry how much do you think this guy is worth. Top strikers on the planet are pulling 40 mill. Tell me who the last midfielder at young 20s who sold for 40 mill was

He's came through the Dortmund system and is arguably already in a better team, I think he'd only leave if he was looking for a new challenge.

And 170 pounds a week.

How dare you waltz in here with your variables and realistic outlook.

Ban this swine :p

I do like the ops onwards and upwards policy but i think we need to be a little more realistic with reasoning such as you mention.
Would be a great buy but i can't see it this summer at least.

Lucas Moura and Pastore were sold to PSG for more than the reported Goetze price of €40 million (£34 million). Hazard went to Chelsea for a similar price.

He's scored 14 goals for Dortmund + 4 goals for Germany this season on top of 12 assists, not too shabby for a 20-year-old attacking midfielder. There isn't a better young attacking midfielder on the planet IMO.

Dortmund are taken out of the equation if his release clause is triggered, it's all down to his personal wishes. Maybe he will wait for Barca or Real, maybe he will opt to stay, but at least we're showing ambition for the right kind of player.

Just reading the Kicker article, interestingly his advisors refused to answer questions from Kicker about City (and Arsenal) interest. Txiki apparently met his agent during the Dortmund vs. Shakhtar game: <a class="postlink" href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kicker.de%2Fnews%2Ffussball%2Fbundesliga%2Fstartseite%2F584537%2Fartikel_arsenal-und-mancity-jagen-goetze.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... oetze.html</a>

End of the day they'll give him a bumper contract and eliminate the release clause. But as LC said its good the ambition is there.

Ok thats still not £40 mill and thats with the PSG added % which is what we had 2 years ago. I don't expect PSG to be paying stupid money again

He's worth it without doubt. Chelsea bought Hazard and PSG bought Lucas for fees in this vicinity and both have added plenty to those sides as Gotze would to us. The obstacle would be convincing Gotze, I think Reus could be convinced as he's spoken in the past and has been open to playing abroad but Gotze is more Dortmund's blue-eyed poster boy who probably has a deeper attachment to the club (Reus left before going back remember).
