Gotze - signed for Bayern

Mr. "100% impossible Gotze, Gundogan, Reus, and Draxler their clubs leave this summer" Nostradamus will be back soon to cover his tracks... no doubt saying Bayern bought Gotze the correct way unlike dirty moneybags City or something.

Every player has his price... especially when the club puts a stupidly low release clause in his contract!

BTW does Draxler have a release clause? Papadopoulos does allegedly.
37 million euros, £32 million, isn't really stupidly low.

Especially considering it's 100% profit.

For a player of this quality, upside, and meaning to the club (they produced and developed him into what he is) it's ridiculous and I doubt Dortmund will be celebrating the profit tonight.

They should have had a £100million buyout if these clauses are compulsory to ensure no one would trigger it and any eventual transfer would allow Dortmund to make an absolute fortune for one of world football's great young talents. And also to ensure their closest rivals would never be able to snatch the best talent in Germany with such ease.

If this had not been allowed to happen, Gotze would have gone nowhere this summer and when he did eventually go it would have been to Barcelona or someone, not to a club who can badly weaken their biggest rivals while strengthening themselves. If Van Persie going to United had a big impact on this season, Gotze going to Bayern will have an even bigger one over there - and it could mess with the team right before they play Real Madrid in the CL semis.

He will be worth double in a few years and Dortmund should have known better. Gotze is an incredible player already and will only get better, Dortmund have been caught with their pants down. And it won't be the end... their #3 defender has a £1million release clause and looks to be heading to Schalke. Ridiculous stuff.

Its a good deal but not that great.
If you gave me the option between Gotze and Neymar, I would snap yout hands off for Gotze.
However it appears Neymar will cost more. Should not be the case.
Just goes to show that Dortmund don't really have any big plans of staying among the elite (if this happens ofcourse)

Can someone elaborate has his clause just been triggered or has it been triggered and he's essentially agreed to terms with them cause that's two very different things and I don't think anyone has said one way or the other yet and I have no idea whether the article clarifies

If Gotze was willing to join Bayern now then I doubt he would have renegotiated a new contract with a bigger buy out clause.

Not as simple as Dortmund just raising the clause or putting a massive one in in the first place.

Football's a business.

Afterall, how many players go for £40/50+ million?

The clause should have been higher than that in the first place, long before this saga. Gotze turned down Bayern interest last summer so only recently has his head been really turned (probably Guardiola made the difference). He only signed a new contract last May by which point it was apparent he was a world class prospect, and a smart club makes sure players of this talent can't get away easily. Dortmund are a big club who like any big club should be able to avoid mistakes like this.

Dortmund seem to have amateurs in charge as the release clauses are too low. Marco Reus' release clause from when he joined Dortmund last summer takes effect next year and is only £24million... he is another incredible talent who they might lose for below his actual worth.

I really can't believe a positive spin can be put on this deal for Dortmund. It's an absolute disaster and their fans are gutted, as the club will be. Imagine we brought through the most gifted Mancunian lad in generations, a City fan, and he became one of the most admired young footballers in the world... then United signed him for £32million. Would you be saying the same?

I would be realistic in my reasoning when it comes to the valuations of footballers.

Only a handful, at most, are worth say £40 million upwards. I say worth, nobody is worth that much but it would be understandable.

To say 37 million euros is "stupidly low" is unrealistic, and more wishful thinking, in today's market.

It should not matter if they are worth it, it should be made so that a player of such ability as Gotze can't be signed so easily (especially by a rival) and making his buyout clauses far higher than his actual value is how to do it. Fabregas and Pedro both have buyout clauses of around £130million when we know they aren't even worth 1/3 of that fee. So no one is going to trigger it and if they ever do go it'll be on Barcelona's terms. As it should have been with Gotze. If Gotze was sold in two years from now he would fetch far more than £32million. He isn't being called the "German Messi" at the moment for nothing, it's not pure hyperbole like in England.

If buyout clauses were enforced in England I doubt Aguero's would be £45million, it'd be about £150million. And this is where Dortmund have f*cked up massively, not just with Gotze it appears. Santana isn't the best defender in the world but to lose him for £1million will be a farce.

This effectively destroys the condescending mythology about the 'purity' of Geman football.

If this story is true Bayern, who have already won the title this year by a million points, have now bought the most promising player of their main rival. This is the same Bayern that have been moaning about the lack of competition in the Bundesliga. That well known tax evader and Bayern president has been saying as much in the media.

I take the point about the buyout clauses. Barca woke up to this a long time ago and slap totally unrealistic buyout clauses on all their star players. It effectively means that none of their stars can be bought.

Dortmund faced bankruptcy 8 years ago.

Now, they are producing record turnover.

They are run like a good business, and 37 million euros for one player in today's market, with FFP, is good feasable business
