Graeme Souness

He could be a nasty piece of work on the pitch; there's one infamous tackle he did on an Aberdeen player (I think) while he was at Rangers. It was horrendous. But he does seem to be a sound bloke away from the hostile environment of the football pitch. And he always seemed to be one of the better pundits, not peddling some bullshit agenda against us.
Found it....

Jesus!

There's an over the top tackle in a European game for Rangers that is unbelievable. Probably the worst I've seen. Absolutely no attempt to do anything other than hurt the other bloke.

I'm not old enough to remember him playing though, and i might have a different view if I could (i remeber him bejng a bit of a dick as a manager sometimes), but I've a lot of time for the Souness and the sort of person he appears to be in recent years.
I am old enough to remember him playing, shortly after his transfer from Middlesbrough to Liverpool and I have to say some of his challenges were absolutely brutal. However his playing career was real beauty and the beast stuff...I've watched him do extraordinary ,pin point long distance passes ,straight after bone crunching tackles..and of course he ran the roost during that period of Liverpool dominance over us at Maine rd when they seemed to batter us season in,season out.
Fantastic player in his prime, but brutal with it.

I always thought he was a dirty bastard. A great player, but dirty.

And McMahon after him was almost as bad.

I’m old enough to remember his debut for the Huns. Utter bastard.

I think they played Arsenal in a League Cup game and if I remember correctly their 'hard man' Peter Nicholas 'did' a scouse player in the first leg. I was listening to the second leg on the radio and while no-one saw what happened Nicholas had to go off and Souness was the nearest player to him, just a coincidence of course......
