Grand Canyon visit

We did a really long 14 hour day trip to Hoover dam, route 66, and finally to South rim by coach, absolutely mind-boggling place in my opinion, it's a day I will never forget.
The bus drop dropped us at one end of the rim and then was waiting for us about 3 hours later at the other end.
I think it was 3 years ago now and was the highlight of our stay in Vegas.
The whole thing included a packed lunch and was very reasonable at about $100 each.
Maybe even the best $100 I've ever spent.
Besides the driver there was a guy with a microphone on the bus like a tour guide it turns out he was actually a stand-up comedian who did gigs at the casinos. He was actually very funny.
It's a very long day but I thoroughly recommended it, absolutely gobsmacking.
Just booked it for the south rim.
Yes 14 hours with lunch and is $80.
The details says includes driving over the Hoover Dam bypass bridge but not the Dam itself.
And yes we have 3 hours there. So a 20 min look and photo and hit the pub lol

Nice walk down. Did it when I was 20 on my first trip to U.S., that was plus 50 years back but the views and the heat won't have changed much. Got to the South Rim late afternoon and knowing nowt about it set off down one of the trails with a water bottle, sleeping bag and a hat. Spent the night at a place called Indian Gardens half way down, afraid of the fuckin rattlesnakes, then carried on to see the river in the morning. It was a longer trek back up. They also had donkeys that take you part way into the Canyon but we said we're not at bloody Blackpool, we'll walk it. Don't walk it.
Did similar many years ago but started with the morning sunrise which was amazing and one of the best photos I have taken, then hiked down past Indian Gardens to the river and back . There was a massive hailstorm just when getting back to the start. It is amazing the change in temperature you get there.
you could also hear the odd rattlesnake on the trail - hate them…..
I was so knackered I fell asleep in the pub/ restaurant afterwards and that was when I was 21. No way could attempt it now but an amazing trip.
Got my ‘I hiked the Grand Canyon’ T shirt still somewhere.

There's shuttle buses that run from the South Rim Visitor Centre to the east and west.

Worth doing as you get totally different views of the place depending on where you are. You've probably got enough time to get to Yaki Point in the east then get back to the Visitor Centre and head west to Hopi Point.

We did the sky walk one, I'd recommend it. was a small plane ride ( maybe 14 seater ) to get there. it was a proper bumpy ride for us but was quite a windy day though.

I did exactly this , great day.
Was nice to stop off at a route 66 dinner place on the way.
was a long day. But worth it.

still can’t believe more people don’t die there with the amount of people desperate for the ‘perfect’ selfie

Yeah I'd forgotten about that, there were people right on the edge of a bit of rock jutting out, posing. Madness.
