I won last year purely because of this thread - somoene put something up witha load is stats saying something along the lines of - pick a horse over 8 and under 13. Pick one that has won in recent months, etc etc. and if you followed this rule you would have won 12 of the last 13 nationals! I can't find the bloody post!!

From Nag Nag Nag...
And the Grand National. Here’s a simple system that would have given
you the winner in 12 of the last 17 years and will give you a
shortlist of 6 runners for this years race……

Knock out any runner older than 11 or younger than 9 (88% of last 17
winners were aged 9-11yo)
Knock out any runner that has run in the last 16 days or had a break
of more than 56 days (100%)
Knock out any runner rated less than 136 (100%)
Knock out any runner carrying more than 11-06 (100%)
Knock out any runner that ran in a Grade 1 or Grade 2 race last time out (100%)
Knock out any runner with fewer than 3 starts this Season (100%)
Knock out any runner that has won more than 2 chase races this Season (100%)
Knock out any GB Bred runners (94%)
Knock out any runner that finished outside the top 8 last time out (88%)

Using http://www.grand-national-guide.co.uk to apply this filter as close as possible gives three selections. Two of which have been long fancies of mine so i'm a little more confident, if you can be confident in a grand national.

Balthazar King
Soll
Gas Line Boy

There's always an outsider that gets in the mix so 100-1 on the latter in that list is worth a cheeky bet.

You didn't apply the filters very well as Balthazar King's last race was 148 days ago.

He's been rested purposely for the National. Didn’t run at Cheltenham.

For the first time in years, I dont think i'll watch the build up, not only will it be a sickening AP fest, on a level seen only for Scousers or Rags, but channel 4 wont do the music will they?

I didnt apply that filter as it would rule out those kept fresh and aimed for the race.

If any of theses re on blue punter'so list I'll be happy -

First Lieutenant (a woman may do it at last hey)
Rubi Light
Al Co
Saint Are
Royal knight

Although I said earlier in the thread mine were Night inMilan and Soll

There think I've mentioned most horses running haha

Just a heads up, many of the bookies will be boosting the prices online and in the shops tomorrow at 8.30 & 9.00.

For those who don't bet too often I'd advise taking a price on your selection. The bookies love to shorten horses up before the off. If you horse does drift, you'll get paid out at the bigger price as long as they offer Best Odds Guaranteed.

From another forum but used every year. Picked last years 25/1 winner and Mon Mome 100/1 a few years ago (which I didn't back because no French bred horse had ever won) Was written last week before Soll got in and prices were higher

For the purpose of this race, i am eliminating horses that do not meet the next trend, until only horses that match every trend are left

SELECTIONS

After the latest update, 4 horses stand out as possible winners based on the last 20 runnings of the race

Mon Parrain can be backed at 66/1

Night In Milan can be backed at 50/1

Al Co can be backed at 33/1

Soll can be backed at 25/1

Mon Parrain, Night In Milan & Al Co are guaranteed to run, should their connections decide to run them in the race, Soll currently stands at number 49, so would need 9 horses to drop out to get a run

Ok based on the following formula, this has given the winner 13 times in the last 18 years. This year it has come up with these horses. If I've made a mistake, let me know and I'll edit the list:

Rocky Creek 10/1
First Lieutenant 20/1
Night in Milan 25/1
Al Co 28/1
Mon Parrain 50/1
Rebel Rebellion 50/1
--------------------------
Portrait King 80/1
Super Duty 100/1
Rubi Light 100/1

Gas Line Boy (100/1) is bang on the 56 days without a run.

Perhaps the ones above the dotted line may be the ones to focus on.
Good luck all.
