Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

Think what you like about Jack, we'll have a blander squad when he leaves.

All the real 'colourful characters' are gradually drifting away or have been whittled out of the club. I reckon there's only Bernardo left who has any real personality after Jack leaves.

It's a shame. The game could do with a few more Mario types to liven things up.

If he does leave, really do think it’s been such an opportunity missed. He was a lot more pivotal to the treble winning season than given credit for and it’s such a shame how it’s panned out since.

He’s been great a few times off the pitch too with some of his fan interactions. He really could have been a great (well, a lot more so than he is already at least. Anyone that wins a treble is a great anyway!)

Wait to see what happens next season if/when he gets regular football with a coach who actually wants him around.

I think there'll be a few on here wondering what actually went wrong at City.
Sadly only Lee Carsley whilst in interim charge of England made him a regular starter and that was a handful of games. Pep, Southgate and Tuchel have not seen enough from him to be picked for whatever reason.

We still have Rodri and Dias isn't a shy and retiring type either. We could do with more consistency which sadly Grealish lacked the most.

You could well be right.
I think he'd do nothing for the bottom teams or the top teams.
He could be great for a Bournemouth Brentford, Brighton, Fulham who have loads of hard workers with pace and stamina.
For those of us old enough he reminds me of a Tony Currie/Charlie George type player.
There is something very good there but not available on a regular basis

Not a surprise when looking at the KDB leaving party. I really like Jack, but he doesn’t do himself any favours.

Pep lately really knows how to ruin any negotiation leverage when it comes to squad players that he turns his back on (for whatever reason).
We got incredibly lucky with Cancelo that he was convinced Saudi made sense for him.

It will be interesting to see if we can even get something like £25M for Jack.
Why would anyone give us a “fair” price when they see these reports coming out before our season has even completed.

I hope I’m going to be wrong, but this may be another Kalvin situation where we may need to beg someone to take him on loan next season.

So I'm very strongly against the idea that Pep "ruined" Jack but I have to say this is on point.

Saying "I want a smaller squad or I will quit" in public means that that will now be brought up in every transfer negotiation.

Ultimately responsibility lies with Grealish. I don't really believe that he's a borderline alcoholic, he's said himself that after the treble he felt like he'd nothing left to achieve. It's a real pity because there was obviously much more he could have achieved in the precious time he had/has.

My feeling on Jack on that front, is that the embarrassment of being left out the Euro squad was going to be a turning point for him one way or the other.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seemed to have lite the fire under his ass that I hoped it would, and he is content with his career and what he has accomplished / earned.

Hard to disagree with him.
Regardless of what any of us personally think of him, the guy has lived out every dream he likely had as a child before he turned 30 (minus England glory).

It's a sad way to end his career at City. He seems like a genuinely nice lad and contributed significantly to the club's greatest ever season. That said, it is time to move him on if we can. He was never worth the fee we paid, and he's certainly no longer worth the wage we are paying him.

Him being left out of the squad is probably more to do with merit in training and competition than anything else.

We have 25 other senior players fit and available for the game, meaning at least 5 senior players will be left out of the squad (even with Kovačić suspended and Stones injured), and Grealish probably hasn't earned his place in the matchday squad. Most likely Khusanov, Reis, Carson, McAtee and either Lewis or Echeverri will be left out as well.

It's quite heartwarming in a way to see that many posters on bluemoon are so childlike and naive that they equate being a success in football with getting the ball and dribbling past everyone just like it was in the school playground.

Professional success to them isn't developing as a player and a man and being moulded by a football visionary into an integral part of one of the greatest teams ever and collecting all the medals that go along with that. Nope - it's getting the ball and trying to run past the defender.

Bless em

But did prove one season (out of 4) that he could do a job there all the same and has medals in the cabinet to prove it, was never deemed good enough to have a central role, and that’s hardly surprising considering who we’ve had in last few years, one day a lot will realise he was a bad buy, but he’s not the first and won’t be the last
Yep, I’d put him in the Delph, Zinchenko bracket. Did a job, except he cost a fukin fortune.

Don't think anyone is going to be able to say they are shocked. Wish him all the best wherever he goes next, it's going to be a pain in the arse watching him have the game of his life against us in the not too distant future.

This was the season Jack should have made himself a City legend. When we needed him to step-up and really drive the team forward, in the absence of our talisman, he was nowhere to be seen.

After all, he was a seasoned Premier League winner. Instead his pale, miserable face was all we saw. Given opportunities to prove the manager wrong, he wasn’t up to it.

Give me the professionals of KDB, Gundo and Bernardo every day of the week. Fine, they might not go for a pint, but that’s not what I wanted from my City players.

I so wanted Jack to succeed here. I’ve sung ‘Super Jack’ so many times, even when he didn’t deserve it.

He was an integral part of the Treble. He should have been the same stalwart for the next five years.

What an opportunity wasted.

Yes think your wrong. Reckon he will be used as an exchange player . . . another level (s) to Phillips ffs!
