Great news for Oakie ref hip replacement

Delighted for you Oakie hope it goes well for you Liam Gallagher just had both hips replaced because of severe pain I believe the pain is the hardest part so hope the operation makes you better KB
Thanks KB and yes I`ve been suffering for about three years so hopefully I can be rid of this pain.

I've heard a rumour that the NHS is culling FOCs by offering them 'hip replacements' then getting them into hospital and they're never seen or heard from again.

Make sure you let us know when you're going in oakie, and if we don't hear from you for a few weeks, we'll have a piss-up in your memory.

Seriously, the NHS can be quite amazing. I had a bowel cancer scare about a year ago and was fully expecting to have to use my company's private medical insurance to get it seen to quickly. But the NHS sorted out within 3 weeks, which included two procedures with the removal of a thankfully non-cancerous growth. The private sector could not have done it quicker. Hope it all goes well for you mate.

Yes there is pain,if you sit in a chair everyday the pain gets worse, get up and about soon as possible. If you are ready to venture outside get some one to go with you, slippery time of the year, don,t want to hear you,ve gone arse over elbow.Set targets and beat the targets the following week. Both hips done, plus right knee, sit in East Stand level 3,walk up &down,,,in my 79th year.Want you. Up and walking at Christmas, best wishes.

I’ve had both done.
The gnawing, depressing, constant agony of the arthritis will have gone when you come round after surgery.
There will be slight pain at the surgery site, for me it was just stinging.
I had quite a bit of muscle and tendon pain for a month or two after but exercise gradually lessens it.
Take your pain meds as directed, don’t try to be a hero getting off them.
Do your exercises religiously, You will hate your physio because they will ramp up the exercises at every session.
I had my last one in February.
Yesterday I played 18 holes at Chorlton golf club.
Good luck.

WOW just got a call from my local Hospital (Leighton, Crewe) to see if I am available for my hip op. on Monday 9th December.
Apparently I was pushed to the front of the queue due to the time scale of waiting 16/17 months to see a Consultant and the severity of my arthritis and bone on bone issues.
After seeing the Consultant only a few days ago, he said it would be another 6-8 months before I would be seen.
Does/did anyone else get/got a feeling of pure joy, on hearing this sort of news, especially with it being quite a major operation ?
Might be able to get on the dance floor on New Years Eve. ;)
One delighted Oakie.
made up for u oakie

Apart from the top level administration
I really think that it is easy to slag off admin but without good reason, the nhs is a monster and has to have so many people making it work, it is management that arranges every appointment and every surgery , manages moving around and juggling bed capacity so patients can get in for their treatment, the drs and nurses cant manage all that and treat patients

16 to 17 months to see a specialist is wonderful ? FFS Kaz.
I saw pain clinic within a week , the MSK in three, waited only three weeks for the MRI scan . Six days from my drs to hospital for breast cancer scare and mammogram, ten days to have cameras up both ends when i had blood in my stool . Done on a bank holiday sunday It works well for most things There is a wait for hips and knees that was less under blair but the tories austerity has the knock on effect of the waiting list being longer again

I saw a poster say they were having their knee done in a few months from refferal which was good , it is not all bad
