Greater Manchester Politics Thread

Cummings, Jenrick, Hancock and Williamson would all have gone; either sacked or forced to resign under any other government.

This government lack any kind of moral obligation or basic decency. They're an embarrassment to this country and their incompetece on top of that is doing untold damage.

And yet they still seem to be polling at 39/40%. Fear this is going to have to get a lot worse before people vote to make it better.

People are a few weeks away from finding out what the people they 'lent' thier vote to are made of. Here is a taster;

"ever-ending freebies"

Sir Marcus is more eloquent than I thought he would be after listening to his interviews

Every email I have ever sent would give the impression I am incredibly posh and eloquent, ask me a question on the spot and I'll probably end up swearing accidentally. Typing is like that, you can delete it when you get cross and call the other person a ****, then come up with something slightly more civil

I don't want to do Rashford down but I very much doubt(pretty much know) he does not write all his on Tweets. That isn't to take anything away from his campaigning, of course

This forum doesn't really give a UK-wide view on subjects. As most posters are Manchester based, they're also more likely to be labour voters.

I think the main thing we can grasp from the 40% polling figures is that there's a huge chunk of the population who despise the working class. It just so happens that our PM is one of them.

I think Boris has lost the support he gained earlier in the year. There's no chance the likes of Leigh will be voting Tory in the next election.

A lot of his voters in the north are working class people protesting to labour.
I think your right about losing the seats gained but labour need to start appealing to these people rather than just blaming boris for everything
Boris will fall in his sword anyway

None of the issues you raise have anything to do with Andy Burnham as far as I can see. 1) it's the pubs responsibility to sperate tables, I've seen it done but 2) Regardless of Burnham's position, Wetherspoons would be allowed to be open anyway as oubs that sell food are to remain open under Tier 3

Burnham has also repeatedly advised people to follow the law and Greater Manchester would follow the law if Tier 3 was imposed

It is a Wetherspoons issue this, not a policy one
If none of these issues have anything to do with him then he should resign Immediately

on this forum the fall back position if many is to blame Boris and absolve anyone below of any ownership

I'm hoping Starmer is more palatable to people with centralist views compared to Corbyn/momentum.

The biggest issue is the SNP though, with their grasp on Scotland, it will be hard for labour to ever command a large majority again. But even regular Tory voters will struggle to justify a vote for Boris based on his first year as PM. It's been an utter shambles from start to finish.

It has
He’ll be glad he has 5 year term and hope to turn things round
In reality it shouldn’t be hard for a labour leader to get in front of him, but somehow they seem to be treading water still
Maybe Keir sees a long game

It is a Wetherspoon's issue if Wetherspoons and it's customers are not following the rules. There is a standing threat of a 10k fine or threat of closure for establishments don't comply.

Maybe you should phone the police and dob them in. Civic duty and all that
