Grenfell Tower block disaster

Playing devil's advocate, how it is any different to burning effigies of Guy Fawkes? Or the recreation of the Great Fire of London that takes place each year?

Let’s say there’s no difference. How would you feel about people having bonfires and letting off fireworks on the anniversary of Grenfell every year?

It has to be able to cause harassment, alarm or distress. The test is that of a 'reasonable person' ie would a reasonable person present, or having sight of the event or hearing it be caused alarm or distress. Patently the answer to that is yes.

So the person that posted it should be charged then not the ones that were involved, because if it was never posted it couldn’t have caused offence to the grenfell victims

In the olden days, if you witnessed a crime, you reported it to someone in authority. You generally didn't go round town asking people to bring pitchforks, which is what social media is today, because you knew someone would probably go too far.

We've gone a backward step in my opinion.

You’re writing as if I’m being purposely difficult, I’m not, I’m just trying to gain a better understanding of our free speech laws.

Do you think this is a public order offence, with it being in their back garden but with them putting it on social media?
They didn't put it on social media. I would think that would be relevant if the CPS are going to try to prosecute them.
