Grenfell Tower block disaster

Well no. On a forum formed by members it would be difficult to make an offence out. You asked if an offence woukd be made out by you displaying a sign in public with the word '****' written on it and that is what I responding to.That would be an offensive viaible representation that would constitute an offence; we live in a civilised society where people going about their private lives and walking their young kids down a street should not have to take them past an offensive sign like that.

OK, **** may not have been a good word to use, due to how strong it is.

What about “Orange idiot”?

Surely burning a bonfire on your own private land will be hard to make an offence out too? Or are they liable because the idiots shared it on social media?

Exactly these low lifes should be named and shamed in papers on social media and on TV as the utter scum they are but FFS, how many people have been stabbed and killed on the streets of London lately

Where I live burglary is on the up as people know its free pickings as police do fuck all - rats on bikes hanging around getting younger kids to give them their trainers and caps or they get tw*tted because they know the only time the see a copper these days is on reruns of the BIll on Dave.

The police need to start focussing on real crimes and not on people being offended or having their feelings hurt on facebook.

Afuckinmen to that.

But there is no context to that sign, it isn't hateful or anything to anyone, it is just a word on a sign. It is a 'bad' word yes but if that offends you then surely you must also advocate banning swearing in public?

The effigy that was burnt had no racial context but yes it was offensive but indeed many things are and they aren't illegal.

Burning the poppy or protesting against rememberance day for example is not a racial crime nor even a criminal offence but I can guarantee it will happen this weekend and it will offend me but I won't be calling for folk to be arrested for it.

Because there is no outrage over his role in this at all and the whole thing is a response to public outrage. Don't get me wrong, the person who posted it is probably a much nicer person than the people in the video, after all he was disgusted by what he saw which I would say is the appropriate response. But I still think putting it on twitter was irresponsible albeit absolutely typical of the society we live in. I think social media is utterly destroying society.

Aided by the Main Stream

Orange idiot is not likely to cause alarm ir distress to anyone, so the answer is no.
And for the second bit, you know full well that the issue here is not them having a bonfire in their back garden. That is minimising this in a huge way and a total misrepresentation of what they have done

Another stabbing and its wall to wall cardboard box burning outrage....what a time to be alive...

I know its that der social media thing.

Nobody has died - it was on private land - they are utter scum for doing it but hey ho all over the news.

Answer me this if it is so offensive - why the fook is it on every news channel showing it over and over - if the media really give a fuck for how the poor victims of Grenfell felt then why do they keep showing the video????

Whip everyone up into an outraged frenzy that's why.

You’re writing as if I’m being purposely difficult, I’m not, I’m just trying to gain a better understanding of our free speech laws.

Do you think this is a public order offence, with it being in their back garden but with them putting it on social media?
