Guardian's nominations for Premiership flop of the season.

13 goals, 10 assists in all comps and he's still a kid. His season isn't as bad as people make out. He will thrive under Pep.
As for Otamendi, I'm not his biggest fan, in fact I think he's been a fucking liability, but there are players who have had far worse seasons than him.
Good point. I honestly wouldn't have guessed Sterling had 13 goals. Agree that he will look much better under Pep; in fact, I think everyone (still with the squad) will.

For Ottamendi It has always been the system he was playing under, I think he is a fantastic defender. Our style has always been to win the ball high up. Kompany has been no different and the only one who stands off and defends is Mangala but he is more error prone. The rest fly into tackles instead of standing as a unit and that is why we have conceded so many goals.

Prime example is the Mahrez goal at home this season. If you watch it the ball just waltzes through midfield and everyone jumps in but no-one wins the ball. Crucially though, where is our midfield when Ottamendi is flying in some 20-30 yards from his box. We haven't had enough protection from midfield which has meant the defensive performance has been down to last ditch, suicidal defending.

Wouldn't say either Otamendi or Sterling flopped, both a bit below expectations but fairly mixed performances and played well at times.
Bony on the other hand was poor for most of the season with a couple of OK performances early on.

There's been a lot worse that Otomendi but he's not been great. He's had great games, but overall there's been too many errors for a defender of his standing.
Nice to see blues getting behind Sterling again in this thread...

Bony did way worse than Otamendi. And where the hell is Schweinsteiger, Depay and Benteke?

Shite list made by Manure clowns.

Bentenke should definitely be on there and you could argue about one or two others but that aside it's an opinion piece and people need to stop taking every single negative thing said about us so personally.

I'm still hoping he'll come good, but I can see how in some people's eyes he deserves a spot on that list. He arrived as one of the most sought after defenders in la liga and was touted as a replacement for Ramos at Real Madrid. A half decent showreel of last minute side tackles doesn't hide the fact he's been disappointing.

The piece isn't about who the shittest players are, it's about who hasn't lived up to the expectations of the writers. Like someone else said, Agnonlahor's inclusion is more confusing as we already knew he was crap anyway.
