I don’t think those so called close aides knew anything then, or know anything now. They were and are gambling based on how they perceive the mood.

It would have been obvious, at the time of extending to assume it might be his last as it would take him to 9 years which is a lot, and he kept at that point saying 6/7 was a long time. Now that in the last 4 weeks he has mentioned the possibility of extending on at least 3 occasions, his 'close aides' think he might extend? Groundbreaking stuff!

That is in no way aimed at the tweet itself, just wherever the 'noise' is coming from.
