Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

Will be sad to see him go.
Even on one leg, blindfolded and whilst juggling oranges, he's still the best defender we have at the club by a country mile.

I doubt it. A couple of fullbacks either from the cash or the Academy and the squad is good. Outside of that position there's nothing that needs desperately doing. CB would be nice but Denayer is coming back. Maybe another winger but we've got Roberts coming back.

Just the fullbacks for me. As so much of our build up is focused wide and we need our fullbacks to be comfortable cutting inside too, it's a difficult position to fill.

If there's one player – one – I would truly love us to have got this summer it's that lad Benjamin Mendy. Given that Monaco have only just bought him themselves, it's out of the question, though.

They're professional athletes in the most competitive sport on the planet.

Playing for a top club is more difficult and more competitive than winning an Olympic Gold Medal when you compare participation.

You generally don't reach that level if you have this type of attitude. Most studies done on pro footballers show them to be self motivated alpha males with an unhealthy obsession with competitive behaviour. They might not fit the Hollywood movie stereotype about what that looks like or charge around the pit h in crowd pleasing but pointless running but it doesn't make it any less real.

The often maligned Samir Nasri or Raheem Sterling were willing to have the entire world hate them in order to drive their ambition.

Money is important to them because it creates a ranking system and they really fucking hate being behind people they think they should be in front of. If the highest paid player in the world was paid 20 grand a week, most players would be delighted with 21 rather than 200. It's not a digit thing it's a value thing.

Pro athletes are generally insane people. But the good type of insane.
I often wonder how Sterling must feel about the constant abuse he gets in the media and from fans. His mental strength must be incredible as he has pretty much thrived this season on the back of the abuse he got after the euros. I'd be a nervous wreck cowering behind the curtains if I had to deal with the shit he does.

I also see that in kolarov this season. Never for one minute did I expect him to come back from the low of last season and still he gets a lot of abuse from fans. I expect him to be here next season and hopefully keep proving his worth.

The club haven't released this news, it's pure speculation from the media based on players contracts running out at the end of the season. They've probably included Vinny to spice it up but judging by that first half performance against Monaco it wouldn't surprise me if something is going on between the players and Pep.

The speculation is also being fuelled by City not entering into negotiations with the out of contract players. It adds credibility to the clear out speculation.

No great surprise perhaps. The injury thing is unsustainable in its own right, but as we've seen with Hart in goal and Aguero up front Pep is very specific about the attributes he wants his players to have. Centre halves need to be comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and bringing it out from the back, and whilst Vinny is a better defender than the rest of our centre backs put together, Stones, Otters and Kolarov are all more comfortable in possession than he is. Not by much, but by enough of a margin for him not to fit in with the manager's plans. It's a sad day either way, cos the man's a legend

Lol.
What he doesn't think that pep is scared of some players and their influence.?
Niave at best.

So you're implying he's not playing Vinnie as he thinks he has a big influence in the dressing room? That the best CH (when fit) in Europe isn't getting a game because of this and that Pep wouldn't want Europe's best CH (when fit) to take us to glory as he'd take more of the kudos in the dressing room.

I'll end this post the way you started yours .........LOL.

Pep ran a dressing room with Pique, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi.

Then one with Neuer, Lahm, Ribery, Robben, Muller and Lewandowski

Pretty sure he could have handled Joe Hart if he wanted to.

He got rid of Hart and brought Bravo in, so it's not that ridiculous a suggestion.
