Pep's history and our history suggests this. I think this 3 CB fad comes from people thinking we are stacking up on talented CBs and somehow all of them should play. He Had 4 solid CBs at Bayern and yet didn't play 3 defenders as his base. Frankly he did this more often when most of the CBs were injured than when they were healthy.

More likely than not 2 of those CBs will simply be backups who play due to injuries. Of which there'd probably be some.

Oh, I don't know we wouldn't use a 3 as our base, but most evidence suggests it is far less likely to be the case.

With the exception of Sanchez whoni don't see us getting, that's a highly likely team. I like Hector at LB even though I prefer Peirrera, Gundogan at Pivot, Kroos as Xavi and DeBryune as Mueller. Silva on the right will need to stick to his position rather than drift in all the time, buy technique and vision wise he'd be great, work rate and positional rigidity he'd have to improve on. I reckon the left will be Sterling or Sane. Even though I'd have preferred Asensio or Boufal.
