Mrs.D.D. just bought me a resonator for my birthday,Fender, jet black, beautiful.Play a lot of bottleneck and it really gives you that Cooder sound.supermankrypton said:banjo said:supermankrypton said:All the majors have crossed my mind. Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Guild, Takamine. Also been looking at some of the more obscure smaller brands. I know 2 grand's a lot of cash but about right for the kind of guitar I'm after. I'm thinking high end. It needs to be the kind of guitar I'll still be playing in thirty years. Spending all day on youtube researching models but I suppose I won;t know my guitar until I fell it in my arms. Can hardly wait.
Maton guitars are really nice. They're an Australian brand and something a little bit different than everyone else has. Not that easy to find although there are UK stockists.
Yeah, I've looked at Matons as well. Neil Finn uses them so they must be good. Interesting woods, I suppose. It's a decision I'm not taking lightly. Need to pick up a few and get stuck in. Played my mate's Taylor a few months back and fell in love, so I'm leaning towards them at the minute. On a side note, I wonder if anyone's got a resonator? Wouldn't mind getting one at some point.

Looks like i have bought the "Blue Nun" of guitars compared to you lot, $175, still you have to start somewhere. It's a "Martinez".
