Anyone use a Fender Deluxe with a Tele? Was thinking of investing in one but need to justify the spending first.

Where do you guys find best value for picking up pedals?

I find Ebay to be good for buying pedals (not so good for selling), also the musicradar forum is a good source of used gear.

Fender Deluxe is a great amp.

Personally, though, I prefer Fenders through Marshall and Gibsons through Fender amps.

From my experience, Fender amps have a very clean sound which gives a very honest account of the guitars natural tone. You might not like the way your guitar sounds after hearing it so clearly. Gibsons have a meatier tone due to the wood than Fenders, and a Marshall amp will thicken that Fenders tone right up, if that's what you'd like.

I was going to say something similar. Teles can be very bright sounding as it is and a Fender amp is only going to amplify that (pun not intended) whilst a warmer sounding amp can take the edge off.

Depends what sound you're generally going for I suppose and what, if any, pedals you'll be using with it.

Music Radar is indeed a good place to get some deals, but they can be a bit snobby there, so go carefully at first. Just my experience.
Yakaz and Gumtree and Preloved can all throw up some unexpected bargains.
For the mother of all meta-searchers try:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.enamul.info/classifieds/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.enamul.info/classifieds/</a>
- searches 'all the free ads on the planet' - often turns up some great Craigslist stuff, usually from the States, so you have to work out how to get it past customs. I use a mate in the US who sends it on via USPS which doesn't go through customs, at least in this country.

Gibsons have a heavier sound because they have the humbuckers for pickups instead of the single coil that fender use.. fenders for that reason usualy have a more bright ping to the sound... the gibsons have more bass and drive...

the main question for any amp or guitar though.. what sound are you after ? Who would you like to sound like ?

You will get a decent enough sound out of any amp for bedroom playing, if you want more specific sounds or to play larger rooms then more specific kit is needed.

Everyone talking about the Fender Deluxe (I presume it's a twin reverb?) I was going to get one and I agonised over it but went for a blackstar (mines a 45w all valve twin combo) series one edition. It cost me a grand next to £1400- £1600 for a Fender, and it's the best amp I've ever owned

Miles ahead of the crate vintage I had. I'm still gobsmacked by it.

Yeah I was looking at the Fender Deluxe Reverb but its alot of money. i was most looking in terms of sound, a little fuzz, distortion and of course Reverb. The reviews seem to suggest the effects bulit into the amp are excellent plus the clean sound on the second channel is a major plus too.

Apart from Acoustic stuff I would be mostly playing some Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Pearl Jam, Wilco as well as some Bluesy Americana stuff.

I've just ordered this beauty:

What sort of style to people play on here?

I play pretty much exactly like the guy below in the video. Unfortunately I don't have a Gretch but one day I will!

The guys talent is incredible. He plays guitar through a Morley AYB pedal (if I'm not mistaken) then splits the sound through a guitar amp and a bass amp. He then uses finger picks to play the rhythm and the bass notes of the song simultaneously whilst singing. PRetty impressive and at the moment my #1 favourite band. Seen them live in twice in the last couple of months! Would recommend any guitar player check them out as their songs are great for strengthening your control on the guitar neck.

The tune below give a better example of his style:

Drummer ain't bad also!
