When I did my ACL it was exactly the same challenge, collapse, realisation something tore, no great pain, think it might be something minor, try running it off, knee doesn't quite feel right, realisation its something more serious.
Only way to know for sure is a scan. But the physics will have a good idea they've seen plenty before. Hope its not and feel gutted for the lad but at least the surgeons know how to fix it these days when I did mine about the same time as Lakey did his they were still pissing about trying to find a gold standard surgical fix.
