Gundogan contract situation

Should we offer him an extension beyond 2023?

Question is how much are we going to get for him ? And let's hope it's not for pogba

Absolutely love Gundog. His football intelligence and technical ability are amongst the very best in the game - an extra yard of pace and he’d have been up there with the greats.

He did as much as and possibly more than anyone to lead us to the title in 2019 and his amazing goal scoring 20/21 season alerted the know nothing pundit world to his talents.

As I said in the other thread, a pure class individual in every way, and will be missed for sure. His control, silkiness, and finishing were all exemplary when we needed them to be. A stalwart part of our greatest-ever period.

This absolutely necessitates the need for a CDM, then. And probably an 8, too.

My worry is that all the focus on rebuilding the midfield will mean we lose the track of signing a RB, too. To fully complete this squad, it will need to look something like this, for me:

Ederson / Steffen
Walker / New RB - Laporte / Ake - Dias / Stones - Cancelo / Zinny
Rodri / New CDM
KDB / New 8 - Bernardo / Grealish
Mahrez / Sterling - Haaland / Alvarez - Foden / Grealish

If the club feels Nunes can do the job of both back-up CDM and a general 8, then I trust them. But I think ideally we would flex our muscles and spend enough to cover all the positions properly. Walker isn't getting any younger, as well.

Has been a fantastic servant of the club and I will be sorry to see him go. He may choose to play out his contract but I can imagine he will be courted by some top teams offering him more playing time than we can promise. Will leave with our thanks for some priceless memories. Always came over well and seems one of the most descent of footballers. A credit to himself and the club.

Very sad he's been a great player for us.
But odd that the report says he's flown to Madrid?
I hope he's part of Sunday's squad

Will be missed, especially with him saying he'd like to retire here- it's a shame he likely won't get a proper send off but hopefully he'll return as a coach after he's done playing
