Would he choose us over Arsenal, a London club with a few fellow German internationals present, a better squad and likely to finish in second place or the chance to work with Van Gaal at a club that is in reality still regarded as bigger than us by neutrals? I'm not sure he would, unless we can make Klopp a factor.

He's pure class and would be a huge improvement on the quality of our midfield, but I won't get too excited about the prospect until it becomes more than a lazy rumour.

I have no idea how you are a City fans with the views you spout on here. There is no way Arsenal have a better squad than ours. In one paragraph you have basically said Rags are great, Arsenal are amazing, City is shite.

It's a degree of reality that appears to have become elusive to most of our fans; since I posted it he's seemingly chosen the rags.

Blind faith is on a par with stupidity. I'm here to talk football, and the most productive manner for us to move forward as a club, not pretend that we can attract the best players in the world. Arsenal have invested well in the previous 3 years, we haven't. On current form they're the best team in the league, and on current form how many of our players would get into their starting 11? Aguero, Hart and Clichy are the only three.

That is why a league isn't judged on current form. Arsenal havn't finished above us in a long time. They are only 5 points ahead of us (if they win their game in hand) with some difficult fixtures to come. If you think Silva can't get into their XI you are deluded. The only player I'd take from Arsenal into our team is Sanchez. Maybe Koscielny at a stretch. There is a reason we challenge for the BPL and they havn't, as the league isn't won based on current form.

According to think its ajogo and abola Portuguese media we want/looking at Hector Herrera and his team mate Yacine Brahimi this weekend from yes u guessed it Porto lol.

If we want to compete against teams like Bayern successfully the last thing we need to become more like is Porto.

Same as you mate but we seem to have a huge hardon for Porto players. Oh and they both have 40 mil buyouts which Porto will rinse us for, just hope this is bollocks but them outlets had us in for Fernando and Mangala.

I agree....its pretty clear that the players we are signing from the Portuguese league are not ready to play in the prem and while other teams like the rags buy players who can step in and push them to top 3 right away....we are sat talking about giving players 6 months to settle in....absolutely crazy!.....this just sounds like excuses for having a poor transfer policy! Whether we like it or not we going to have another average season next year....(yes, top 5 is average for this squad) unless we make a big hit in the transfer window and getting ripped off by Porto would not be a good start!

If we want Porto players we better get the checkbook out. We usually pay 5-15m more for players coming form there than their real worth. And all this after long negotiating. Imagine what could have been the cost of Fernando+Mangala if we agree sooner with them and accept a bit sooner something closer to their original price. LOL

Porto is the king of negotiating transfers. They are the masters of it. But also they are masters of scouting talents. James Rodriguez, Mangala etc, they find them somehow, bring them in for 5-10m maybe 15m prices. Then in a year or two they sell them for triple, 4x, 5x prices....

While our scouts only find these players when are already very expensive. Brahimi guy would cost us 35-40m. No one heard of him before this season maybe. What he cost Porto? Less than 10m probably. Thats scouting+top class negotiating gets you.

How about Arturo Vidal?

United didn''t go for him in the end because of his knee issue.

He hasn't been the same player since that injury last season, very similar to Falcao.

True, Vidal is only 70% (tops) back to his very best. In an interview he gave to the Italian media two weeks ago he stated that in a few starts with Juve in February that he was playing through the pain barrier.

His performance in Dortmund in the CL was excellent though and was largely instrumental in the easy 0 - 3 scoreline that eliminated the German side. He didn't shine against Monaco though and is still not the man who transformed juve two years ago.

Rested in the Summer after the rigours of fighting on three fronts (Serie A - almost won), Coppa Italia final (50% chance against Fiorentina) in June and outsiders in the Champions League against Real Madrid) he should be back to his very best next season, probably with a largely unchanged midfield comprising Pirlo ( his last season at Juve probably), Pogba, Marchisio, Pereyra, Asamoah and Vidal himself.

I agree with all that apart from the bit about Brahimi he wasn't unknown he had a great season in La Liga also had a decent World Cup. That's what makes it annoying when we are with players like him and Alderwield. We need to use our scouting network and take risks. I'm sure it was mentioned here ages back we were thinking about buying a portugese team it would be a great business move. Maybe problems with conflicts of interest but Chelsea get away with the relationship they have with Vitesse.
