Looking at medical web sites it takes approximately 6 weeks to fully recover from a dislocated kneecap. That would see him training again by mid June....it looks like it is not as bad as some people are making out....let's hope so.

the way his signing to us has been talked about in the media for the past few months or so i get the feeling everything has been pretty much agreed for gundogan to become a city player next season, so unless he is going to be out for like 6 months or so i can't see us letting him go off our radar.

Thinking about it, even if is 6 months, he would be avaible by the start of October. Still worth it imo, we desperately need players of this quality in midfield.

i think we should still look at him without question! world class and a type of player we desperately need. maybe offer a lower fee with high stage/appearance payments?

No Euro's, so he will be fresh for the start of the season

They do have similar playing styles but was more a comparison of their injury records and how they threaten to stagnate potentially stellar footballing careers
I don't follow Dortmund/Gundogan, so how often does he get injured? If it's like Wilshere's record, then it's pretty detrimental.

He has missed 116 games due to injury since being at dortmund(12/13 season) in the same time Wilshere has missed 90 games. Though over their entire careers Wilshere has missed more.

Depends on how much damage is done to ligaments & such in the surrounding area. That's also just for general laypersons with standard use of the knee, not elite sportspersons. It'll be longer than that - but it's around 10 weeks (?) to the start of next season so there's a chance he could be not too far off that.

Another problem with dislocating a joint is the risk of re-occurrence increases with each dislocation. My friend did his knee cap when we were at school together & it's happened another 5 or so times since.

It was one big back injury for him until this one so I wouldn't called that Wilsher alike.
