I've watched Utd the last 2 Mondays and seen them benefit from a late penalty not given last week and winning with 2 late goals tonight.
If we were giving 5 points up to Barca, Madrid or Utd teams of past years, I'd say it was definitely over. However this Utd team is nowhere near as good as any of these and I expect them to drop points at some stage.
Question is whether we're good enough to win all/most of our games? Our current form would say it's unlikely, but there's still hope.
I want to push them all the way and if they win it, make them earn it, rather than meekly surrender it to them.
As it stands, a draw for them and a victory for us in the Derby puts us level. Whatever happens, we need to take it as far as we can, otherwise we'll be under the same pressure next Mar/Apr when we're challenging for the title again. I want us to encounter the heat of a title run in. Invaluable experience for future seasons.
I agree completely.
The problem is likely to be with us, rather than them. They only need to draw one game (outside the derby) to open the door for us again, and I'm absolutely certain that will happen. But wed have to win every single game between now and the end of the season if we are to capitalise. That's the bit I can't see happening, unfortunately.
If we completely blow this in the next two games, we're not even going to get the benefit of experiencing a full blood-and-thunder title run in, and that would be a real shame after the way we performed for the first three quarters of the season.
