Gym tips

I joined the gym after Xmas. Been about 5 or 6 times and so far I’ve done running, cycling and rowing plus did a bit of leg press. My aim is to get my BP and weight (beer belly) down. I know I need to sort the diet too but wondering if I should start doing weights now or can I wait until I feel fitter and get a better stamina?

Rowing is one of the best exercises for weight loss and reducing stomach fat. I know that no exercise can specifically target belly fat but rowing is one of the most effective ways due to the intensity.

If your goal is to reduce BP and beer belly then keep doing what you are doing with running, cycling and rowing. You will notice the gains soon (looser clothes, smaller belly etc).

Consider weights in a few months once you've reached your current goal. No point in getting side tracked and losing focus.

I seem to have lost a couple of kilos in the past couple of weeks. My BMI is 27 so I need to lose another 7 or 8 to get out of the overweight section

I started my weight loss journey about 2 years ago. I appreciate everyone is different, but it was swimming that worked for me in terms of initial rapid weight loss.
It burns calories & is low impact if you're not used to putting too much pressure on your joints.
I later added running to the mix once I'd lost enough weight not to damage my knees.

Don't listen to anyone advising steroids. They are selling you a way to botch your body and your life. Kid next door did two months... he's still coming back to planet earth today. What. A. Performance. Nearly lost his wife. Got people talking about putting the kids into care. Several arrests for moronic attention seeking wild displays, and attempted intimidation that could have cost the family their home. His reward for all this is adapting to life as the new bitch in his family home. The dog, quite honestly, has way more status in everyone else's eyes.

Your body is like everything else in life. You don't get good in a month or two. And every short cut like this will cost you big time, long term.

Honestly, if you want stuff like this, you probably need to get working on something impressive long term. Hard work and dedication over time is by far the most effective way of impressing yourself and others.

Great investment pal, I was tempted to rent one in January as my gym was packed but has calmed down now.

Interval training on a treadmill three times a week works for me when it comes to weight loss, 12.6 kmph for four minutes then 14.6 kmph for 1 minute. I do this for an hour and it comes in at a shade over 13 km distance.

Diet first.......then concentrate on compound lifting within the 12 - 8 rep range, with the occasional super/drop set at the end of a session.

Look to a PPL (push/pull/legs) routine

Thank me later.
