Haaland the superstar

Messi and Ronaldo have had longevity, in the fact that they were at the top for sooo long. When they were 22, they were just starting out, and not hitting anywhere like the same numbers as Halaand. And they weren't as famous as Halaand is now when they were the same age. Haaland has come out of the traps like a greyhound at full pace, but I doubt from his size that he will be as quick when he is pushing 30, so he will have to adapt his game and score different types of goals, free kicks, shots from outside the box, or become a heading specialist, using his height. Only time will tell, but it is only early days when you consider Messi just lifted the world cup at the age of 35.

Sorry to piss on your chips Rascal, but our first genuine superstar actually played for City approximately 100-120 years ago.
Step forward the original "Welsh Wizard" -
Billy Meredith !!!
Pissing on chips is the whole point of the post, my grandad maintained he would never see a player like Peter Doherty again in his life time and he thought Best was brilliant.

It could also be argued on a remedial level that Max Woosnam was our greatest superstar, after all didnt he win wimbledon and olympic medals..

Without wanting to piss on your chips Manclad, this is about the here and now, where footballers are global. Was Billy a superstar, yes, in Manchester, but worldwide, No.

Unless you have evidence of Peruvians, Indians, Chinese etc wearing Meredith shirts your point is fucking ridiculous.

Messi and Ronaldo had done a bit more than just starting out at the age of 22.
At the end of the season before Messi turned 23 and ignoring B and C team goals he had scored 127 which is quite phenomenal. Ronaldo was behind with 82 half way through the 07/08 season when he turned 23.
Using the same criteria and ignoring lower league and B team Norwegian football Haaland has already scored 177 and to make an accurate comparison we need to add those that he will score between now and the end of the season. With a minimum of 14 games to go and hopefully up to 18, it’s not out of the question that by the end of the season before his birthday he could score nearly as many as Messi and Ronaldo combined by their 23rd birthdays.
Absolutely ridiculous stats.

An interesting thread.

My cousin's kids are rags (by "dad") even though most of the family are blues, but my mum told me this weekend "but they really like Haaland".
Haaland is a game changer with kids, he is everything a kid wants to be.

Perception wise he is huge, he is quick, he is strong, he is the epitome of masculinity. And he scores for fun, enjoys scoring for fun and has epic celebrations. How many kids will have Haaland as there 9 playing play station games or whatever is popular.
