Had to repay £100 today

I have a lot of sympathy for you Rascal.

The accounts yourself and Skyblueflux have echoes of those failing the ATOS medicals for Employment and Support Allowance and the disillusionment people feel. Dealing with the DWP on a day-to-day basis has only significantly lowered my opinion of them, which wasn't particularly high to begin with.

Fight them!

You say you had 50 days in hospital
You say they pay £1.17 a day for your food

Total £58.50 (50x1.17)

One thing is recovering costs, another to make a profit....

It's disgusting how some people are treated in this country, if I was in your position and you are able to fight it, i'd refuse to pay up and let them take you to county court (if it got that far) make them look like the utter arseholes that they are acting like!
They will deduct at source. Russ, have you asked for delayed repayments? say £10/month. I don't agree with the stance they are taking but they have you over a barrel mate. Cunts.

They will only deduct at source after months of county court proceedings, been there and done it and when the local press got involved it was dropped rather quickly ;)

o be fair the food at Salford (hope) is good.

I spoke to the manageress there and she gets £1.17 per day per patient to provide them with a three course meal at dinner and tea.

Whats arbitary about this decison is they have not taken my situation into consideration, they have just decided they can save money.
but you had a pint as well, with each course

A rather rubbish cup of stewed tea more like :)

Im just bewildered about this decision, the people who decide them have obviously never been in a situation like mine. that worries me.

I go in hospital regularly, this is the first time i have been penalsed for it, im now worried that should i suffer at home so i can pay my bills or go in hospital when i really need the help i get.

of course they have never been in a situation like yours thats because

1)they have private medical insurance
2) They get paid in full when they are sick
3) they can continue to receive their allowances so that they can maintain their 'second' homes.

one rule for them and another for the rest of us

I have spent 50 nights in hospital this year already and the DWP have decided that because i was in hospital i owe them £100.

They sent me a letter threatening me with legal action if i didnt repay the amount.

During my time in hospital i spent far more than this £100 on two dressing gowns, a number of t-shirts, the privately owned TV service whilst still paying all my bills at home. They say as they fed me i owe them money.

How fucking bad and how fucking low will the DWP go in there pursuit of people who are not well. Ian Duncan Smith is behind this demonisation of the unwell, at every turn he attacks the disabled as feckless.

I have lost a quarter of my monthly income this month because i was unwell, how is that right?

It isn't mate.
But that's the kind of increasingly callous, uncaring society we live in.
The decision probably wasn't even made by a human being, but was the result of a letter churned out by the admin bureaucracy once you had reached your allotted amount of days to constitute a repayment.
Benefit levels are less than subsistance as it is,without this piss take.
Best of luck contesting it.

For anyone being shat on by ESA and ATOS this link is useful.

It's a long read but gives lots of procedures to keep the bastards on the back foot.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatos.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatos.html</a>

Just downloaded the ESA application form for a family member.

56 fucking pages!!!!!!!

shouldn't have to pay for that.

Always thought we should do a whip round on here to see if we could put a contribution towards sending you abroad to have that treatment you said you would have liked to have had if it wasn't so expensive.

You may be further left than the Azores(joke) but you're still a blue and very few have contributed as much as you on here so I don't see why we couldn't chip in a bit and see what we could do.
