half time pitch forkers

I believe they turned the drain off to try and get the game abandoned. Can only turn it back on using a six fingered hand :P

They had about 3 out, but they were doing fuck all and didn't even bother going anywhere near the corner where most of the puddles were forming. defo trying to get the game abandoned mate.

this, i was really worried they would get away with it.

When Wiley came out after halftime and rolled the ball towards the middle, I thought, he is looking for a reason to call it off!

didnt go to the match today and havnt even watched it yet as was travelling back from heathrow, sky + it so watchin later.

However spoke to my bro who watched it and he said that what he saw they didnt even have many if any out pitchforking the pitch.

Can anyone at the match confirm this... smells of bad sportsmanship if they didnt, trying to get the game abandoned!

Perhaps they had run out of fork handles?

In fairness to Burnley, the pitch first half was fairly good, nothing compaired to sunderlands a few weeks back, aweful. That was a very very heavy downpour, any premiership ground would have struggled with that amount of rainfall in such a short amount of time. I actually dont even blame Brian Laws attempting to get the game called off, i would have excpected city to do the same thing given the circumstances.

If it was city they'd have turned on the sprayers :)

surely a team reaching the prem the pitch should be of that standard.if not they should not be allowed in. had that been called off it would have lifted spurs immensly.

Now read my post again and this time open your eyes. Like i said "pitch first half was fairly good, nothing compaired to sunderlands a few weeks back"
I also stated that "any premiership ground would have struggled with that amount of rainfall in such a short amount of time"

Its not the fault of Burnley F.C should a very very larhe amount of rainfall fall in a 30 minute period, did you see the cricket ground next to the pitch, flooded!!! I believe that had that game of been at city and the same amount of rain had fallen then the pitch would look not far off as bad.

I have to admit I never liked Alan Wiley before, but he has gone up a tiny bit in my estimations today.

Thanks Alan!

here here, first time ive seen a ref with common sense!!!!!

got to congratulate him for his common sense in carrying on. Theres a few referee's that would have called it off

Not seen a pitch deteriorate so quickly! Even the lines were starting to run. I look after some footy pitches that have no drainage, that are built on an old airfield so there's concrete underneath the surface, and they don't flood like the one at Turf Moor!

But, what do you expect, the place is a dump!

Thought the ref and both teams did very well under the circumstances, any pitch would have been water logged with the amount of rain that fell in such a short period.

I agree with Rickmcfc about Sunderland's pitch and that was without the amount of rain poor old Burnley had at half time. Burnley didn't really have a chance with that downpour. As for there only being about 3 men with forks at half time, maybe that's all they had?

Think of Wigan's ground as well. Their pitch is a disgrace at all times.

did anybody else notice that they actually watered the pitch with fire hose type before the game sprinklers? The to try have have the game called off for waterlogged pitch!!!!

Needs looking into by FA if you ask me

Been reading a few of the recent posts on this thread:

'any pitch would have struggled with that amount of rain'

'we w ould have done the same'

And so on.

Utter rubbish-I have just found a blog on the net from a groundsman who points out the following:

'No two pitches are the same, whether it be the direction they face to maximise sunlight, drainage, construction, airflow, pitch use in regards to whether or not it has been used for training as well as games'

'Was the pitch slitted/aerated before the game? Any decent groundsman would have looked at the weather forecast and prepared for the weather which came during the game'

'The damage to the pitch playing that game in those conditions will only hinder them for the rest of the season at home, so they have only themselves to blame for not getting it right in this instance'

I seem to remember a couple of our games being played in similar conditions this season-Chelsea at home stands out a mile (an utter monsoon!) as well as Everton last week that was also played in steady rain during the second half-but ours wasnt like that.

A small time club on the way to where they belong-fail to prepare, prepare to fail you inbred gypsies!
