To whom it may concern.

Whilst I do appreciate your response, it is fairly clear that this is a generic email. Of which neither adequately nor sufficiently responds to the points I raised.

I am aware that Balotelli is a colourful character with a reputation for irrational behaviour, however I have always been under the impression the BBC are fair and impartial. Whilst I appreciate that the 'experts' on your panel are entitled to their opinion I would hope that their opinions are fair & balanced.

Yes Mario is worthy of his critics, but it seemed only Balotelli's past indiscretions were referenced throughout and after the game. The criticism of Balotelli would be easier to view if it were balanced. Rooney is on the pitch, and throughout his career has, punched, kicked snarled and screamed at just about everyone including his own fans. His behaviour towards his fellow Englishmen in South Africa was easily as bad and disrespectful as anything Balotelli has done.

On the same field of play, ironically marking Balotelli we had an ex-England captain who is about to stand trail for racially abusing a fellow professional. Now I understand that the BBC can't get involved with voicing their opinions on matters legal, what I would expects however is a balanced view from your experts.

It was as though Mario was the only player on the pitch to have ever done anything wrong.

I bring you back to the root of my complaint, a complaint I truly struggled to fit into 1500 characters.
I felt the BBC were vindictive, judgmental and vicious in their assessment of Balotelli. Hatred I felt had racial undertones and that a young black man had no business being like Balotelli is.
I dare say, if Balotelli were in court for something he had done on a football pitch or he had slept with aging prostitutes whilst his wife carried their child something my have been said by the experts. It seems anything is fair ground when it comes to a foreigner, especially a young black foreigner.

Mario is young, fun and far more charismatic than any English player. He's achieved more than most and all against the odds.

This is a young man who throughout his life has been racially abused, held back and bullied. Yet he has still become the man he is today.

As I say in my initial complaint I feel it is in extremely poor taste to hear a socially backwards man calling Mario stupid, especially when that man would consider Balotelli to be 'coloured' and is paid a fortune for his out dated a frankly xenophobic views.

The coverage last night was slightly better, I would attribute this to two pundits who have no agenda, and just describe what they see. Also Balotelli's performance made it impossible to belittle him, although Lawrensen tried several times.

Well I'm sorry but a generic email is frankly not good enough. I pay my licence fee and do not expect to see a young man, a young black man bullied on the BBC. Stupid, thick, under achieving and lazy are just vicious and not nice to hear.

Without wanting to accuse people of blatant racism, are those descriptive words/insults not awfully similar in connotation to how many Eastern European and Italians see young black men?

I don't live in 50's Britain, nor do I live in the 99% white demographic countries of Eastern European or the backwards areas of mainland Europe. I live in England and don't want to hear anyone decribed in this fashion.

I would ask is it wise, in a time where Britain and the English Premier League are supposed to be multi racial utopias. Environments where anyone no matter of colour, ethnicity or upbringing can achieve their dreams for the BBC to be employing affluent middle aged white men to basically bully a young and talented black man? I hope you are aware that your experts labelled Balotelli everything a mindless racist would label a young black man. Thick & lazy with a bad attitude.

You must be aware that this is how small minded bigots see the young black population as a whole and that is it the BBC responsibility to depict everyone fairly. If Rooney has a bad game it's because he's unfit, if Beckham kicks out it's because the occasion got to him or the pressure of the nation weighed too heavy on his shoulders.

If Balotelli fails to control a ball, or chase a pass it's because he's lazy and if Balotelli kicks someone, it's because he's thick.
This cannot be case, and should not be the way that the BBC see it.

This is how the BBC have come across to myself. A self employed business man, educated to degree level living in leafy Cheshire. So how do suppose it comes across to many othes? I have no agenda, I am not a minority that feels wronged, I am a middle Englander that is disgusted with the BBC.

I hope my complaint goes further than the generic response.

I await your reply.

Christopher.

The equivalent of a cane to the ar*e by a Headmaster.

*Ouch!*

Stings...
That might even make points of view saturday morning!! doubt it though.

Firstly well done to schfc6/Christopher for a well argued letter but expect a generic response. BBC football is little more than a nasty, smug old boys club that serves itself and has long forgotten about the public. To suggest that snide and unnecessary remarks were "fair and balanced" is frankly frightening but bear in mind that they defended Alan Green's disgusting Djemba Djemba remarks. We need a high profile figure to challenge the BBC, maybe someone at MCFC or an ex-player. Another poster suggested the media but really only The Guardian would be bothered by the BBC's attitude. Most of the media enjoy abusing Mario and I suppose Lawrenson and Co. take their cue from that.

I am not black but am convinced that Balo is given particular treatment because of his colour. I have the choice not to buy anti-black publications but I am forced to pay a license fee and pay for something that I find abhorrent. Every City fan should defend Mario and when the BBC turn up (In particular Lawrenson) give them hell.

In the meantime we need to get others to support our cause because to the BBC fans simply make the noise to add atmosphere to their pictures.

Great reply mate. You need to get it to a BBC governor to get anywhere. I think if you address a formal complaint to a governor it has to be dealt with in a formal way - as opposed to fobbing you off with a automated response.

I have to say that is an outstanding response, lets hope it gets somewhere

Here's my response, unable to reply to the email address they send it from, you have to use their system, so i did again, with this:

Thank you for your generic response to what i considered a serious matter, you clearly dont take complaints as seriously as you say or think you do.

Hardly any of the points i raised have been covered in your response. *i have a full breakdown of this but it is too large to fit into your restrictive complaints system*

I wish i hadnt wasted my time complaining to an organisation that clearly just believes in jobs for the boys, you pay those 'experts' thousands of pounds to deliver biased, inaccurate bile.

I am disgusted, i dont think you understand or appreciate the depth and level of my feelings on this or any other matter, so please dont claim you do in future. Also in future, if you are going to restrict someone to 1500 characters in the complaint, i would suggest it only fair and balanced you did the same in your response, then again, it is quite clear what the BBC considers is fair and balanced.

*my full breakdown i was unable to send:

I am well aware of what messers Mourinho (who should have said "I am unable to manage him" but his ego being too big to say as such) Prandelli, and Mancini have said about him, i wasnt talking about them, and for you to try and use them to defend the actions of your employees i believe is wrong, just because somebody says something about an individual, it doesnt give the BBC the right to say whatever they like. I'm not bothered what those elite managers said about him, I was talking about the people on your television programme, being inaccurate and malicious. If you think it is fair and balanced for Mark Lawrenson to call, him stupid (as he did in the England game) and mad and lazy (as he did against Germany). If you think its fair for Alan Hanson to criticise him at every turn and openly admit he doesnt like him, or how it was balanced that Alan Shearer made a totally inaccurate statement about what Balotelli had ever won. The fact is it wasnt at all balanced and it was wholly unfair, as Balotelli didnt have the right to reply. The fact Balotelli rammed those words down your 'experts' throats against Germany, didnt stop the bile coming from Lawrenson. Maybe having an Italian in the studio (one who knows Balotelli quite well) helped matters a little, as he was very clear to remind the panel and audience of Balotelli's very young age, it was certainly better than having Shearer and Hanson together. No account is taken for the abuse Balotelli has received his whole life, in fact your panel seem to want to just continue that abuse. The fact that a young black man, who has been a lot more successful than his English contemparies, is described as stupid, mad and lazy, despite all the obstacles he has overcome in life, let alone football, yet his white English counterpart ie Wayne Rooney, who has had an equally chequered past, only gets positive comments and excuses made for poor performances and petualant acts. The longer this bais and injustice carries on then members of the BBC Sport team, channel controllers and other senior managers, that you describe are just as culpable in my eyes, as those continually making the comments, as this is not an isolated incident.

This must be fixed before next season so I am going to write to City directly, Kick it Out, Show Racism The Red Card and the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The response of the BBC has been truly appalling and they need outside pressure to make them take this seriously.

i suggest that if there is no response that the bbc will eradicate the crap, then when the season starts we should go down to media city and have a demo against the racist cartel, that is hansen, lawro and shearer, as well as the bbc

Something must be done to stop this racism from that filth at the BBC,what about a banner reading "Show racism the red card"-"kick the racists out of the BBC" In my opinion these people are commiting a racist crime every time they open their little englander mouths.
