Hansen, Lawrensen and Shearer bring shame on the BBC

What annoyed me is their constant reference throughout the tournament that Balotelli is a suspension waiting to happen;-

Minutes Balotelli missed through suspension = 0
Minutes Rooney missed through suspension = 180

Yet Mario gets a lot rougher ride.

Not a great argument, considering Balotelli missed eight games for us through suspension last season and was, arguably, lucky not to have received a longer ban.

Edit: Actually 11 if you include the three game European ban he had for the red card against Kiev the season before.

No, I understood the point of the post.

However, the pundits aren't basing their opinion of Balotelli on Euro 2012 alone. Six games isn't really a good gauge of a player - he had a great tournament and was great for us for spells of the season, but you can't really blame some pundits for not warming to him.

I can, especially when they're cunts.

Sorry, dont agree with you. Are you saying that pundits are excused not warming to Balo due to his actions last season in the league?

Why don,t the pundits NOT warm to Rooney, after sleeping around when his missus is pregnant, swearing into tv camera.s,elbowing Wigan,s James Mcarthy in the face, holding trafford rangers to ransom and demanding a pay rise, smoking, partying in the uSA and being complety unfit for england in a major tournament, turning up for training hung over, kicking lumps out of a montenegro defender, having a dad on police bail for conspiracy to fix matches in scotland, slagging off england fans who,d travelled over to the last world cup.....why do the pundits warm to wayne?

Andy Carroll-not a bad word said about this free scoring centre forward-what was it , 7 goals last season in the league? Do we ever hear Hansen mention Carrol being an aggresive wanker for breaking the jaw of his team mate and captain at newcastle? Do we ever hear Lawrenson not warm to Carrol because he was on bail for beating his missus up?

if the expert MOTD pundits can warm to rooney and carroll then why not Mario.

If in fact the pundits are simply commenting on what has gone on at the Euro,s why on earth would Balo attract more stick than the two england golden boys?

Don,t even get me started on John Terry.

No, I'm simply saying they haven't warmed to him. They don't have to like him and, let's be honest, Balotelli isn't going to care if he's liked or not. So they like other 'bad boys' of football. I like Balotelli. For what it's worth, I don't dislike Andy Carroll. I'm not a fan of Rooney or Terry.

It's all about opinions; people don't always agree. But taken as a standalone, the majority of people fronted up on MotD and the like see Mario's baggage as too much and Rooney's as acceptable. I don't agree, you don't agree, but does it really matter?

The original point I was making on the suspensions was simply that - they have ammunition against him. Whether they choose to use it or not is a different matter, but Mario doesn't especially help himself sometimes.

I actually think the problem with the punditry on offer is the complete lack of insight shown to the game itself. They're ex-pros who should be able to tell me - the amateur - something I don't know or help explain the technicalities of what's happened. But too often we get "he's put in a good cross and he's got his head on it well and found the bottom corner." I can see that, tell me something I can't see immediately.

Whether or not they like someone is neither here or there.

Don't imagine that Hansen and Co. look through any stats before crucifying Mario. He's young and black so that's reason enough. A previous poster said that it's fair enough that pundits don't warm to Mario. WRONG! We are forced through the licence fee to make Hansen a millionaire, he has NO RIGHT to spout his personal prejudices over the airwaves and the BBC are despicable for allowing him to. If Lawrenson sees a striker score an amazing goal he HAS to say that, not tell us that he thinks the scorer is "stupid".

Why are any MCFC fans giving any support to such nastiness?

There is a big difference between pundits not warming to him and them being outright vitriolic, biased, bitter, you name it. Please don't confuse the two. They just need to be professional and actually do the job they're so handsomely paid to do properly rather than use such a powerful platform to pursue their own small minded agendas. Even if they were constantly biased IN FAVOUR OF Balotelli by constantly praising him even when he didn't deserve it, it would be equally wrong(see shrek). Warming to someone or not should have fuck all to do with being professional about your job but that's clearly too much to ask of these backward creatures.

Good post

I lodged my complaint with the bbc and bog standard reply was received, maybe we should go to the national press or start a petition, complaining to bbc does not work and is brushed under the carpet, once it gets out into the public domain then people will sit up and take notice
