That game ruined my Birthday, I can recall going to the cash machine at Barclays on Moston lane then York City scored as I got back in the car. Tonight’s score as made today a good birthday.
I was in the away seats, no segregation but no problems, I was sat in the seat next to the home fans so if anyone thinks they had a bad day, mine was undoubtedly worseI was not behind the goal but in the away seating area. Remember the game like it was yesterday. Also remember Kevin Kennedy sat a few rows behind us. Not seen him at a City game since!
Yeah, but did he know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em???He knew when to walk away and when to run!
Great story though
Our lowest ever league position was after this defeat at York, wasn’t t?
FTFY. Those cockney scamps get everywhere.Eventful day. In a bar in York before the game whenLeedsChelsea came in chucking bottles and chairs
Was that the Friday night game?I always looked at Fulham away as a really low point. Thought we were going to piss the league after beating Blackpool on opening day but massively brought back down to earth after that one. We got hammered!
The lowest point, for me anyway, came when the Gillingham second goal went in at Wembley. That signified at least another season in division 3, with the possibility we might never get out. Enter Messers Horlock and Dickov and the rest, as they say, is another slice of our fabulous history. We were 12th after the York defeat. After 4 games we were 14th. Obviously because it was so early in the season, it’s not going to stick in the mind so much. But I think the period between the 4th and 5th games was officially the lowest ever position.
Happy birthday mate. It’s mine too. Great birthday piss up in York with mates 25 years ago… as often happened back then, city did their best to ruin it but didn’t manage toThat game ruined my Birthday, I can recall going to the cash machine at Barclays on Moston lane then York City scored as I got back in the car.
