Happy York Away Day

Just over 25 years ago City lost 2-1 at York City in a 3rd division match. Undoubtedly the lowest point in our history. Oh how the United, Liverpool and Arsenal fans laughed and took the piss out of "lickle Citeh" like a big bully of a brother teasing his younger sibling. Times were dark, there were times you felt like giving it up but you stuck at it, hung in there and got a small taste of how victory felt the next May when we beat Gillingham to get out of the oblivion of the 3rd division. Sure there were more disappointments to come but none as bad as that loss to York City.

Fast forward to now, we won the FIFA Club World Cup and have had the most successful year in our history. Big treble won, domestic quadruple won, 100 points in a season done, etc. All written in the history books for all to see.

Yes we do have a history United, Liverpool and Arsenal but you fail to recognise that with your blinkered ignorance of other clubs. We are enjoying what we have seen in the past decade and a bit and they do not like up them, no sir, they do not like it at all.

We are no longer having the piss taken out of us, but love watching the piss boil and spew from those who took the piss. You know who they are by now. All they can do is cry foul and call us cheats because someone had the guts and the vision to buy the club and invest in it but also invest in the community around it as well. The latter part again is conveniently forgotten by those clubs and their envious allies in the media. They say love is blind but it has more vision than the blind ignorance of those who hate.

Anyway, what a ride it has been over the past quarter of a century. Here's to the next 25 years, City Til I Die.
