Billy Whitehurst was a nutter and a decent journeyman centre forward
He got sent down for armed robbery if I'm not mistaken
I have vague memory of him playing against us at Maine Road in the early eighties I think a night game and I think he scored twice, he stood out to me as he was massive not in a tall way a bit like Akinfenwa way
I got this wrong he was given a suspended prison sentence for benifit fraud, I don't know where I got the armed robbery from

He also didn't score 2 against us at Maine Road, we won 2-0 he did play for Hull City it was a Full Members cup match I just googled it but he stood out to me, probably his size and bustling play that stook with me

Also just read an article about him and Vinny Jones when playing in the same side at Sheff Utd was asked what's it like to be labeled the hardest man in football? To which Jones said

"I don't know you better ask him over there" and pointed at Whitehurst

Easily Souness. Lol Roy Keane. He's become a parody at this stage.

Souey was Liverpool’s greatest player in my book not Dalglish and for me the toughest of modern generation.. shout outs also have to go out to Dave Mackay and Mick Harford of Luton.. believe it or not quite a lot of hard man of the time including Roy Keane used to say toughest opponent they played against was Ronnie Whelan.
