Who is the hard man leader?

Anyone can act the hard man in the cosy environment of professional football, where they know the most that is ever going to happen after the final whistle is a bit of finger pointing and pushing and shoving in the tunnel.

Things can be a bit different in the semi pro and amateur world, where you know any actions on the pitch might have to be backed up in the car park afterwards.

All full backs should be called Harry Cripps. Kyle Harry Cripps, Oleksandr Harry Cripps, João Harry Cripps. Forwards wouldn't want to be on the ball facing 'Arry!
'Arry Cripps was fearsome enough all right and you're correct about his name.. it used to strike fear into opponents before they stepped onto the pitch!

Similarly, 'Skinner' Normanton of Barnsley was as hard as nails, with a nickname that told you everything you needed to know regarding what he would get up to once the game had started!

Stuart Pearce deffo falls into that category.. Harry Redknapp’s book reveals a few stories about how tough he was...

Never liked Vinny Jones and he was more hard man than actual footballer.

I do, however, smile when I remember him violently chop Cantona down. The Frenchman shot back up in a very aggressive manner to have a go. He didn’t dive in with a kung fu kick this time though as he realised it was Jones. He quickly turned away and had nothing to do with it.
