You never saw Keane act the hard man when he was playing against the likes of Big Duncan Ferguson, that’s for sure.
Still, Keane was definitely a good captain that demanded the absolute maximum from his team and had a lot of passion, I can respect that part. There’s not many real leaders like that around today. Just a shame he played for United, although it did end with him slagging off his team on their TV channel and walking out.
I know someone who worked with Roy Keane.
He said Keane could be a moody if he thought people were taking the piss.
And he wasn't a fake tough guy.
The likes of Schmeichel,and Cantona knew who was the captain and toed the line.
He was decent with the general staff at old Trafford,as were most of the players at United in that era,apparently.
