Harry Kane

I’m not sure on Kane. I thought he looked poor in the euros & most Spurs fans think he’s past his best. I just don’t rate him as £100 mil player never mind £160 mil

Yes I would like him & he would probably score a bag full but I think he’s only got 2 years in him then we are left with a player injured or on the bench being paid a fortune. I just think use a couple of kids & go all in for Haaland next season.

Biggest issue for me is I think pep will be gone in 2 years & he wants champs league so Kane fits his plan better but where does that leave city after pep.
Same for me especially with/if pep coming to the end of his contract and desparate to win the CL. It fits that narrative.

Haaland would be potentially wip for the next few years, Moreso than kane anyway.

Pep wants the Champs league ……..So do all the players and Kane ( and me ! ).

so go for it now - potential is not going to help us in next 2 seasons. We need players who can make the difference from September onwards
I agree we all want champs league but for me not at the cost of our future. Look at Barca.

kane deal is very much a Utd type scenario & look at the state of them.

Kane’s wages will change our entire set up & balance with players. A player who will be 30 in 2 years & already looks sluggish after an injury.

I just see Kane a short term fix which probably will work but at what cost to city in 3 years from now.

potential scenario
Kane on £400k per week in 2 years sat on the bench injured with the likes of foden & others thinking I want £400k. It’s a very probable scenario & could destroy what we are building.

I just think any deals now will have a big impact on city in the coming years & we still don’t know how covid is going to play out.

Personally I’d be happy if we didn’t spend any major money this summer - I don’t think that the transfer market can withstand another year of COVID disruption and our comparative advantage - our finances - will only increase. I have a particular dislike for Spurs so I have no real desire to see us bail them out on the financial side.

Without sounding like a prophet of doom, I would also think that the current wave of COVID may have altered our transfer plans somewhat, given the risk of reduced crowds etc. The outlook now is different from the spring when the vaccine rollout started, and the affordability of some of our transfer targets has probably reduced as a result.

Aye - tend to agree with you on this.

Whilst I appreciate Kane is a top striker I rather we play the long game here where its clear quite a few clubs are struggling financially to compete in a hopefully soon to be post COVID world. Why give them a financial lifeboat just at the right time when they need it with their fancy new stadium. Barca seem to be a good example now of the perils a club face if they don't have their finances in order & are highly leveraged.

Another further year of Spurs trying to balance the books may hit the nail on the head on Levy's ridiculous transfer demands, similar to the rags getting Sancho from Dortmund for a reduced fee compared to their valuation last summer.

Would have extended Sergio & then got all out next summer for either Kane or Haaland where the finances of the clubs would have really been tested after a year of trying to recover since most likely any reserves to stay afloat would have most likely been eaten up this or last year.

If we do sign Kane it also suggests to me that Pep most likely won't continue with us after his final two years are up. He wants a ready made top striker now to give him the two year window to finally win the Chumps league & as well as clean up domestically with us. Waiting for Haaland financially or any young striker where we are hesitant if they will make the same impact in the Premiership & adapt to Pep's tactics will take time which I think the board will probably be aware of.

always makes me laugh when people invent stuff to justify their own beliefs. "most spurs fans think he's past his best" is just an incredibly easy thing to disprove, yet still people write this
Have a look at their forum. They seem happy to let him go & they watch him every week. Would we be happy to let foden go ? No chance
