Harry Kane

That's the biggest reason I'm not sold on Kane, I've never seen him make the difference in a big game or on the big stage, for England or Spurs. He averages consistent numbers, but he has never proven himself in the big moments. And that's precisely what we need.

We score enough against the dross in the league as it is, we need someone to make a difference in the big moments like Aguero did. Kane would definitely improve us, but I'm just not sold that he's that player.
Tbf usually when spuds play anyone decent they are that defensive Kane is usually well in own half as the first outlet ball for them to release son or an other speedy guy.
Is his chance conversion rate lower against the decent sides or is just he doesn’t get chances against them? I ve not watch Spurs enough against anyone else to say either way but by same token don’t recall thinking fuck me he inherently badbuy’s shooting boots and missed a bucket load of chances against a big club. In our big games where we fail it’s not usually a case if not creating enough chances and that’s why I think Kane would drastically improve us.

Kane’s goal scoring against the other teams in the table other than the top 4 is ridiculous

West Ham 16apps 11 goals 2 assists

Crystal Palace 14apps 7 goals 5 assists

Arsenal 13apps 11 goals 2assists

Leicester 12 apps 15 goals 2assists

Everton 12 apps 11 goals 0 assists

Southampton 12 apps 10 goals 6 assists

Newcastle 12 apps 6 goals 2assists

Burnley 10 apps 8 goals 3 assists

Aston Villa 8apps 7 goals 2 assists

Wolves 5 apps 3goals 0 assists

Brighton 6apps 4goals
Maybe rest him for the Palace and Newcastle games.

There seems to be an arrogance that we can just snap our fingers next season and sign Haaland.

United have shown that they can blow us out of the water when it comes to transfer fees and wages. In recent seasons they’ve signed, Maguire, Sanchez, Fred and Fernandes who we were all strongly linked to.

That’s without mentioning the likes of Madrid, Bayern and PSG who will be closely monitoring the situation.

It appears that City’s style is to get the player to agree terms, only have eyes for City and then deal with the club. Haaland’s camp on the other hand seem keen on keeping all of his options open and having a bidding war for his services.

For me, giving up the chance to sign Kane this season on the off chance we can get Haaland next season is pure stupidity.

If Levy refuses to sell, that’s a different matter and we should then go all out for Haaland next summer. But deliberately not signing Kane and then missing out on Haaland next summer would be a clusterfuck of epic proportions.
Spot on, exactly my thoughts.

We can’t wait until next summer and then end up in the bidding war and miss out on Haaland, that’d be a disaster.

I really can't be arsed with the narratives that are going to emerge if we seal this transfer after losing today.

Panic buying, being forced to cave in to Levy's demands etc.

Its bad enough that all the Spurs fans 2 weeks ago were adamant it would be 200m, 180m straight cash have now had a collective change of mind and are insisting they only ever said 160 straight cash.

By the time the deal is done at 120 plus add ons they will have decided that was always Levy's price and we could have got the deal done 2 months ago.

Whoever scheduled this game today is a **** of the highest order.

Watch for the phrase "City must not *really* want him". That has been briefed from Spurs.

I said this had to be tied up and done by Friday. I stand by that and the dithering over a few million may cost us Kane. If that’s the case we need a plan b or this season could very difficult. Worrying times tbh, let’s hope I’m wrong.

You've also left out the part where "£120m is more than he's worth anyway. We've had their pants down."

Personally, I'm not sure how well Vlahovic will deal with the pressure of being the next Jordon Ibe or Ashley Williams.

I get the feeling you and your ilk don’t hope you’re wrong at all, but rather hope you’re right so you can come back gloating and laughing at how fight you were and how ducked we all are.

I’d like you to leave now, you’d be better suited elsewhere.

Spot on mate. My 'Sniffometer' always spikes whenever the phrase 'hope I'm wrong' is used on here.

Why the fuck had it ‘had to be done by Friday’? The windows open till the end of August. This makes zero difference whether it’s today, tomorrow or the last minute, the season is till next MAY. As if Spurs were ever going to bend over and do the deal early. It’s happening 100 percent.

Don’t be a clown and a child. Of course I hope I am wrong, that doesn’t change my interpretation of the transfer though. What club would sell their best player after the season starts without adequate time to replace him.

What I will say is if we start the season without a replacement for Sergio I will be concerned. Anyway I know fuck all about what’s really happening and the club has never let us down so who knows.

One slight cause for optimism may be that press talk of 150m seems to have shifted from pounds to euros last week which is a subtle way of allowing levy to hold firm on his figure of 150m while getting closer to what we are rumoured to be prepared to pay.
